Some tracks just hang around, waiting for their moment. Jumping Jack lived on Jo Paciello’s hard drive for ages, getting little tweaks here and there until it finally came alive as the follow-up to his much-loved Le Jazz. Once it clicked, the groove rolled out on its own.
And because one groove is never enough, Mousse T. asked for a dub that brings the guitars to the front – giving us a mini EP that’s all about swing, funk, and feel-good house vibes.

While Iner's Dobro label has released a number of full-length projects, the majority have been compilations. This, then - a debut LP from Russian producer Stogov, known primarily for blending deep house and jazz in different ways - is a significant release for DOBRO. It's also rather good. Stogov begins by peppering a thickset deep house groove with attractive female vocalisations and fluid jazz guitars ('Imagine'), before opting for loose-limbed jazz breaks, bouncy house beats and Todd Edwards style sample cut-ups on 'Smooth Turn'. Deeper, drowsier and more garage-house leaning vibes are the order of the day on 'Everybody', 'Y're Free' is a classic-sounding slab of thickset US deep house headiness, 'Comeback' is woozy, skippy and delightful, and closing cut 'Shine' sounds like a tooled-up take on 'Boulevard'-era St Germain.
