Uladzimir Patapenka is a name you might not know, but you may know that he previously worked under the LIPSKI alias. Now leaning into disco and working as Patapenka, he is a Minsk-based artist who steps out with his second solo EP and the opener 'Bisous' features a host of talented musicians adding their skills. It's a lush and rich sound with great instrumental grooves and catchy hooks. All three of the other cuts mix up different elements of disco, funk and soul to make for irresistibly feelgood and emotive listening. Another vital slab of wax from the Funkyjaws Music crew.

The language spoken here was not found to be of his native tongue. He was surprised, and remained caught off guard following the harshness by which their words cut. The tone was villainous, cold, yet enchanting. He listened, enticed as the words 'No Se' were repeated again and again. For he could not understand what they said, and they could not care to explain. Communication could be beautiful, communication could be fierce, it could be everything. 
First up on the newly formed Dub Disco record label steps Aussteiger. The A side sees him remix the work of Los Wawis as he dabbles and experiments amidst dance floor enlightenment.

Since making his bow on Street Edits six years ago, Javi Frias has delivered a string of fine rework EPs for the likes of Midnight Riot, Tropical Disco and, most frequently, his own Night Shift imprint. Here he returns with his first EP of 2021, a typically club-ready selection of re-edits. The fast-rising Spanish producer hits the ground running with a sweaty, subtly beefed-up take on an old Controllers classic (the house-style revision that is 'Universal Sound'), before delivering a more reverential - but no less rolling - revision of a lesser-known disco-funk cut 'On Fire'. 'Guitar Jam' lives up to its' name - think loose-limbed disco-funk featuring effects-laden guitars -while 'Really Need To Talk', a sublime rearrangement of a 1970s modern soul gem, is our pick of a very strong bunch.
