"Celebrating a year of successful weekly edit campaigns, Parisian discophile Young Pulse legitimises his dealings with GAMM. This is the first of a series of collections and every track is a dancefloor-tweaked gem. Average White Band's "Work To Do" gets a slick groove extension, a very young Michael Jackson gets a cheeky arrangement polish and added beat muscle on "I Wanna Be Where You Are" and Minnie Ripperton's "Baby, This Love I Have" gets a complete strip-and-rebuild. We conclude with Leon Ware's "Why I Came To California" where Pulse ensures the latent funk in the bass and groove are brought fully for the fore. Stunning."

Introducing Kon‘s forthcoming compilation album ‘Kon & The Gang‘, we are delighted to present this 12″ sampler featuring two incredible cuts taken from the LP, as well as an exclusive remix from Kon

Opening track ‘Timeless’ could hardly be more aptly named. Sublime, smokey piano touches on the intro give way to an uplifting, languid disco track, jammed full of sunshine. Catchy vocal snippets, rock solid bass and guitar licks build up the groove beautifully alongside Kon‘s trademark staccato, squelchy synth chord stabs. On the flip-side Kon presents a remix of his own track ‘Timeless’. Highlighting piano loops and synth stabs from the original version, his rework moves the track seamlessly into Deep House territory, with smoothly rolling percussion and a hypnotic arrangement.

Truccy (better known as Compost’s Rainer Trüby and Corrado Bucci) close out proceedings with ‘Closer’, another sun-drenched groove with definite Balearic touches. Jazzy chords and touching vocals (performed by the duo themselves with assistance from Nicolas “Michael Ellis” Rogoll) lend the track a distinctly ‘live’ feel.

A delicious taste of what’s to come from ‘Kon & Gang<‘, this limited 12″ is surely going to be essential listening this summer.

"It would be fair to say that Young Pulse has been one of GAMM's most reliable re-editors of recent years. It's now almost four years since he made his debut and in that time he's released a quartet of must-have EPs of disco-fied, soul-fired reworks. Volume five contains just two tracks, but both are - somewhat predictably - very good. A-side "Strong Survive" is a veritable peak-time disco stomper, where punchy horns, soaring orchestration and guttural soul vocals are underpinned by a rambunctious disco-house groove. "Dreaming" sees our Parisian hero stretching out a killer SAM Records cut, making more of the seductive chorus vocals and mazy, jammed-out synth solos." (Juno review)

"Super smooth groove-smiths Whiskey Disco have distilled another disco bomb here. Thoma Cher is the supplier of the good times via, firstly, the pure party gem that is "Holiday Holiday", on an EP that marks Cher's first solo outing on this label. "Dancer" is an uplifting track with a warped bassline that wraps itself round the sliding hi hats and loose drums as boogie synths add colour. "Be My Love" is an instantly recognisable gem with a fat bassline slowed to a sensuous pace overloaded with breathy vocals. Great stuff."
