For their first outing in 2014, cult vinyl-only imprint A&R Edits return with another double header of tried-and-tested reworks that have set the floor alight for edits maestro Greg Wilson in recent months.
For instalment number five, Lee 'Peza' Perry comes to the fore, opening with a track that picks up the momentum of the current return to popular consciousness of the Northern Soul scene. A lesser known, pre-Rodgers & Edwards Sister Sledge is the subject of his affections, with 'Love Don't Go Through No Changes On Me', a track that didn't chart in the UK but was championed by the legendary UK selector Colin Curtis at the Blackpool Mecca. Unearthed once more, Peza's upfront dance floor treatment will no doubt bring this heartfelt gem to a new generation of dancers.

PREMIERE: I Gemin - Tears I've Cried [Dobro]

The prolific Manuel Costela has worked in a range of house and disco styles over the years, but this three-tracker for Bengoa's Athens-based B2 Recordings finds him firmly in deep house mode. Opener 'Unpleasant Dreams' is a suitably drifty and abstract affair, albeit still underpinned by a hefty 4/4 kick and with sampled, spoken vox to stop it washing over you. It's 'I Feel It Coming' and 'Inner Journey' that work better for yours truly, though: both (the former especially) are just a little more uptempo and driving, and both add garage-y elements that help infuse proceedings with a little more soul and groove.

Kaninchenbau's main collaborators Sokur and The Funk District helm this latest intergalactic journey in the form of 'All Over You'. It's a superbly tasteful and deep disco joint with lush synth work and the sort of groovy drums that make every head to the floor and get down. Next to the original is a classic 'House Mix' version and then comes two epic remixes on the flip. Both are from accomplished and ever busy Razor-N-Tape producers Nenor and DJ Vas who bring a real touch of classic to their work and offer a different look than the A-side.

Magic Words, a new project from NY-based producers Eli Cohen and Peter Hargarten, make their debut on RNT with the Wabi Soba EP, a perfect summertime record. If the title track sounds a bit familiar it’s because it’s been in Harvey’s hands for a while and has made many appearances in his sets around the world. Based around an emotive and dreamy loop, the song basically embodies Balearica, dripping with Spanish guitar and wistful, melancholic harmonies.

Toronto’s Jex Opolis turns in a massive remix that preserves all the delicate texture of the original and lays it lovingly over a pulsing clubby drum foundation. Already getting a huge response in the RNT crew’s club sets, this is a special record that’s got some serious summer anthem buzz!
