Christoff Riedel is a Leipzig-based producer/DJ and part of the Cime platform mixes different electronic styles with pop and club elements. Riedel's work ranges from mixes and radioshows over club edits to productions for own releases and other artists. His recent EP "Soft Focus" features a vivid mix of tracks he worked on with friends, trying new approaches of experimental sound design and (digital) collaboration.

Yyed (https://yyed.bandcamp.com/releases) is a mysterious character. Known on Twitter for their outré sense of humour and insight into the deepest and darkest corners of ambient and musique concrète, they’re a minor celebrity at this point. 

I featured their Two Reflections in Parallel release in Bandcloud last year, and used sentences like “Woiiii crunchy crunchy noise and sound exploration from Yyed”, and “Burrows under your skin wonderfully”. Brad Rose of Foxy Digitalis said that it was “like being trapped inside a haunted, decaying labyrinth where you have chains tied around your ankles and are dragging them fruitlessly through the mud”, and that “I have listened to this piece a dozen times in the past two weeks and I think it’s infected me at this point, like I stepped on a rusty nail”. 

I asked Yyed for a mix in the hope of getting something equally fascinating and enjoyable, and they sure did deliver. Ambient with a lower-case a, strange songs, crunchy field recordings and plenty of unreleased Yyed, it’s a wonder.
