Studio Sessions Vol 10

This set was first performed on January 1st 2024 in San Francisco at the Breakfast of Champions block party on the Space Cowboys main stage.

A RE:CONSTRUCTED set is a *long* way removed from a standard DJ set. It's a live/hybrid set.

Simon takes hundreds of tracks from his huge library, painstakingly deconstructs them (using Ai if needed to separate elements from the original tracks), and then pieces everything back together to create a hugely emotive and immersive musical story.

He uses Ableton Live and multiple controllers to trigger up to 16 individual channels of audio at any one time during the performance, and also performs live keyboard overdubs. The end result is a hugely addictive, compulsive and compelling blend of music that's often new, often familiar but always utterly unique.

Elite Force - Breakbeat Breakfast Reconstructed - Jan 2024

Ayyyyy! If you were at Breakfast of Champions x It's a New Day this year, I hope you had as much fun as I did! I book-ended the party, mixing video on the Mog at the beginning and DJing on the BoC Space Stage to close the party out. Huge thanks to the happy crowd out there at the end—you made my night and helped kick off 2024 with an incredibly positive boost. 

Here's my set from the party! As usual, I put a lot into it—editing, layering samples and acapellas—and I was also inclined to detoured into DnB for a bit. Enjoy!

What can I say except that BOC is always my favorite party of the year because I get to see all of your beautiful faces! 2023 was particularly challenging for me, so it’s all the more special start the year in this way and to receive so many hugs, and have such deep and meaningful conversation. The best part is always seeing your joy and dancing from behind the decks. We spend so much time crafting a set and experience that we think you’ll enjoy, and the look on your faces is most certainly the payoff! I hope you’ll enjoy listening to this mix and reliving the moments from that beautiful, sunny day. I was surrounded with family, from near and far, and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you, and for this experience, always.

It’s always an honor to play there and it was also my first time playing on the Mog, about a decade after dancing to DJs on the Mog inspired me to DJ! This set starts with a supporting MC, blazes through a mash-up of Drummatic Twins re-releases (thanks Nick), followed by my BOC 2023 release Shake That Thing, stops in with some Nick Thayer, bounces through my Eminight’s Doom bootleg, then settles in for an Elite Force medley (thanks Simon) that ends with playing the CDJ like an instrument. Brass Monkey gets us back on track heading towards a half time grind and shake, then resetting with a classic breakbeat, ending with my latest release, a Tears For Fears bootleg.
