W.Haze - Episode 216

I am Ukraine. Or least my grandmother was.

Other than heritage, I don't have a direct connection to the land, language, or people. When the invasion began, Ukraine was on my mind constantly. This track started as something else in late 2021, but as the invasion continued, musical ideas formed from the news I was absorbing, and what I could only imagine the Ukraine people are experiencing.

There is a single synth, affectionately referred to as the "wobble" in the project file, that is the solo instrument in the track. It doesn't move much in pitch, and instead it uses rhythm and oscillation to dance and fight through the soundscape. It evolves as you listen, telling a story. Whatever story you hear, understand that this is a song of hope.

Special thanks to the Ukraine soldiers of Snake Island for their very important contribution to this track.

SF goes big for Halloween and this year was no different!  I had a great time on the Unimog at Loveboat with my fellow Space Cowboys.  It's the last year of Halloween at Pier 70 but it's been an amazing run of 10 years.  Thanks to everyone who stuck it out until the end with me on the dancefloor!

Mvzzik is the musical alter ego of Dutch born Dj & Producer Frank van Rooijen. With a Gold Record and a Silver Record to his name, this Internationally acclaimed producer topped the worldwide charts as one half of the producers' duo behind one of the biggest club anthems ever - Lock 'n Loads' "Blow ya Mind".
