Hi everyone! Dancing Mandy & I are super excited to release our LIVE recording from our B2B tag set at BOC 2026 (aka It's A New Day + Breakfast of Champions: A New Year's Day Block Party)! We've been having a blast playing with each other as our sounds compliment one another very nicely, from Daybreaker at Grace Cathedral to Luna Stage at unSCruz with some smaller events thrown in between. This particular tag set is special because it's Dancing Mandy's first gig as an official Heavy Petting Zoo resident! Welcome Mandy to the crew, and thank you to Floss Daddy, Cat & the entire HPZ family for another amazing celebration filled with good music, lots of dancing, friends, hugs, smiles, and vibes for days!

DJ Denise + Dancing Mandy - Live at BOC 2026

Our second set from Breakfast of Champions comes chock full of breakbeats from our one and only Rumblemunk. In his words: 

The set starts with a cool and funky transition track with some well-known vocals to keep folks hooked. I admit: it's hard playing after shOOey. There are literally people hanging from the rafters and dancers all over the stage, and I try my best to keep them interested for as long as possible.

The core of the set is an exploration of recent breakbeats that sound minimal, but really are an evolution of the 90s dub sound that traces directly from reggae to drum and bass. The 60-70 BPM of dub double-timed up to high 130s and low 140s BPM forces faster elements like hats and arpeggios to be simplified, but leaves space for really interesting layering when slowed down to 132 BPM. There's a run from 12:30 to 17:30 that exemplifies this layering and progression before dropping back into the more open foot-stompy breaks.

I hadn't played it in a while, and was sort of missing the rapid-fire rapping of Eminem, so I dropped in Eminight's Doom, my bootleg of Eminem's Without Me and Timo Maas' Doom's Night. It wraps up a nice run of Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, and Yo Speed.

The final act of the set is a trip back through time to 2004 with deep cuts from Plump DJs, Evil Nine, and the Breakfastaz (name appropriate, no?).

This all leads into the final track; a breakbeat remix of Megadeth's Peace Sells (But Who's Buying) from 1988. I was looking for something topical for the current times with space for live guitar, but wasn't finding any tracks that worked. The idea of remixing Megadeth has been on my mind for a while, and the similar BPM and angry lyrics (If there's a better way... I'll be the first in line... But it better work this time) meant I had to do this. The live guitar bit didn't pan out, but production time of 7 weeks from idea to master is a new record for me. Expect an official release with live guitar and club edits later in 2026.

'CYRAX & SEKTOR' is a prolific duo of brothers - David and Jose Maria Carrasco. David is the artist who deserves recognition for the 10 year career with his previous solo allias 'LITTLE BEAT', while Jose is the creative soul, who's been heavily involved in the project production since he was only 14 years old. Their collaborative project 'CYRAX & SEKTOR' began in the early 2012 and since then, the guys have established themselves as the explorers of new rhythms, executed flawlessly by their own unique brand and sound. While being fluent in a wide variety of styles and sub-styles of BASS MUSIC, ELECTRO, DNB, BREAKS and GARAGE the duo has been crafting proper dance-floor bangers which dominate the sets of DJs world-wide and consistently being released on top breaks labels such as FUNNDARK, MUSICATION, DISTORSION REC, BURAGUM and ELEKTROSHOK. In 2014 their collaborative project was awarded a well-deserved title of 'The Best Producers of Revelation 2014' by the Spain's prestigious 'International Breaks Awards'.

This week on the Space Cowboys RIPEcast, we are featuring DJ Mancub with his live set from the recent Loveboat Halloween event.  Here are a few words from Mancub:

I love Halloween. Friday night at Love Boat was epic. It was not too crowded and I was able to spend time in each room without losing my crew.  The Art and sound systems were on point. I really enjoyed myself this year.
The night flew by and finally it was time for my closing set on Unimog stage outside. Murphstar had a full crowd on the dance floor before I started. I had spent a couple weeks working on my set and it all flowed nice!
