Ayyyyy! If you were at Breakfast of Champions x It's a New Day this year, I hope you had as much fun as I did! I book-ended the party, mixing video on the Mog at the beginning and DJing on the BoC Space Stage to close the party out. Huge thanks to the happy crowd out there at the end—you made my night and helped kick off 2024 with an incredibly positive boost. 

Here's my set from the party! As usual, I put a lot into it—editing, layering samples and acapellas—and I was also inclined to detoured into DnB for a bit. Enjoy!

What can I say except that BOC is always my favorite party of the year because I get to see all of your beautiful faces! 2023 was particularly challenging for me, so it’s all the more special start the year in this way and to receive so many hugs, and have such deep and meaningful conversation. The best part is always seeing your joy and dancing from behind the decks. We spend so much time crafting a set and experience that we think you’ll enjoy, and the look on your faces is most certainly the payoff! I hope you’ll enjoy listening to this mix and reliving the moments from that beautiful, sunny day. I was surrounded with family, from near and far, and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you, and for this experience, always.

It’s always an honor to play there and it was also my first time playing on the Mog, about a decade after dancing to DJs on the Mog inspired me to DJ! Without further delay, I’m proud to share with you my much requested set from Breakfast of Champion + It’s A New Day on New Year’s Day 2024!  I would have loved to share my live recording but due to a technical difficulty, I had to recreate the magic in a studio mix. It was amazing to kick off the new year with joy, love and hope rocking my set on the Heavy Petting Zoo stage to a sea of party people and all my friends up on stage. The highlight was debuting the track that DJ Denise and I produced at the top of my set. It’s always one of my favorite events of the year and this year was no exception. Live at Breakfast of Champions + It's A New Day 2024

Space Cowboy resident Rumblemunk is up on this week's RIPEcast with his live set from Breakfast of Champions 2024! 

In his words "I’m not a turntable-ist or an OG breakbeat DJ/producer, but when your set is in between Cut Chemist and Elite Force, whaddya do?

This set starts with a supporting MC, blazes through a mash-up of Drummatic Twins re-releases (thanks Nick), followed by my BOC 2023 release Shake That Thing, stops in with some Nick Thayer, bounces through my Eminight’s Doom bootleg, then settles in for an Elite Force medley (thanks Simon) that ends with playing the CDJ like an instrument. Brass Monkey gets us back on track heading towards a half time grind and shake, then resetting with a classic breakbeat, ending with my latest release, a Tears For Fears bootleg.

Rumblemunk RIPEcast Breakfast Of Champions 2024

The original idea was to post this around my birthday in March, after getting about halfway through I realized March wouldn't happen because... well, I was only about halfway through. I parked it to focus on other things. Then came incredibly sad news about friend and Space Cowboy, Danny. He was always a fan of the BBQ sets, and frequently asked when I'd get to another. Yesterday was Danny's birthday, so I carved out time and finished it up. Not perfect, but long af, and hopefully suitable for BBQing. RIP Danny, hope he bumps this at the big grill in the sky.
