About DJ Deckard:
Born and bred in Washington, Keith Harris (a.k.a. Deckard) starting DJ-ing in 2000, at venues and clubs in Seattle and Canada. He moved to San Francisco in 2005 where his skills and talent evolved and became even more prolific, garnering interest and accolade and earning him a spot in the underground music scene.

Deckard made his big splash as a member of Coda in 2006 at Burning Man. Soon after he joined forces with the Space Cowboys whose parties are legendary in San Francisco and Burning Man and whose Ripecast podcast was nominated for Best Podcast of the Year by Breakspoll for 2013.

Mixing together a blend of music selection including, but certainly not limited to breakbeat, nu funk, and house, Deckard keeps crowds on their feet and moving backed by his unique sound and ability to mix genres whether it be playing a sunrise set at Breakfast of Champions or closing down the main room in front of a packed warehouse.

Deckard has performed in a variety of venues on the west coast and Canada with DJs such as Jondi & Spesh, Uberzone, Lee Coombs, Plump DJs, Dylan Rhymes, Meat Katie, Elite Force/Simon Shackleton, Worthy and more.

J9 the Angel at IAND+BoC 2022 RIPEcast

After being blessed to enjoy the privilege of DJing at Breakfast of Champions for so many friends that many of us now call family, it’s fun to reminisce about the days (and nights) of our previous adventures. The rain storm that blew away some of our tenting, the year we got to go on the top of the roof at Potrero Brewing Company, or the time when Clarkie lost both his DJ bag and his black sock. Unlike the push-me-pull-me of Dr. Seuss (a personal favorite character), Breakfast of Champions and the people that make it happen continue to evolve, progress, and change…

To wit, preparing to DJ at Breakfast of Champions should also be an evolving process for all of us that perform there. This past year, I architected a set kinda like a push-me-pull-me from Dr. Seuss, with ghetto breaks on the front and back, and a creamy middle of different sounds that might take some of you back in time just a bit. Sort of like new meets old meets new again. Or who I was and who I am. Because I do not like Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them, Sam I Am.

Shissla live from Breakfast of Champions 2014

To be a bit melodramatic, this mix
was a cathartic journey of sorts for me to make. Personally I was going through one of the most difficult periods of transition I have ever had.  Basically everything I knew was changed and I was gearing up to leave the
Bay Area indefinitely.  I felt there was something left to be said to the Bay Area.   This is what came out as a result.   It's a perfect representation of myself as a DJ.   Half TechHouse Half Breaks and Mixed in a way that I think is different and hopefully interesting.  This is something I'll be listening to for years come.  For me it's 20+ years in the making.

“Happy 4th of July! 

About this mix and the associated image… when Brad asked me to do a mix for the 4th of July, I was deeply honored. The 4th of July is a special holiday in my family, as we have served in the Civil War (Union), WW I, WW II, Korea, and Afghanistan. My Pop in particular did underwater bomb disposal in the Solomon Islands back when divers wore those big ass copper helmets.

The image associated with this mix is an original art piece by William Immer titled Elaine. It’s the Arthurian legend of a woman who fell tragically in love with Lancelot and died of heartache when her love was unrequited. The artist added the bomb gear hoping for a happier ending.

Unlike Elaine, this mix is about happy endings (get your minds out of the gutter) on a special holiday. It’s a 2 hour payload of tasty house and breaks bombs safely diffused for your enjoyment. I hope it makes you smile ☺
