On this weeks episode of the Space Cowboys RIPEcast we are featuring a special guest mix from Music Marks The Spot and @InStereo-Recordings DJ and producer, @JedX.  He has been pioneering a funky house sound that, combined with several impressive releases in the last year, has quickly elevated him to be one of Traxsource’s Top 25 Jackin House producers of 2017.

BIO
A musician at heart with funk in his blood, JedX has progressed from guitarist to dj to producer. While you will still catch him jamming on his axe during dj sets, his true passion is for moving the crowd. The energy that he brings to his performances is incomparable, with turntablist skills and an ear for infectious tracks that keep dance floors filled. Jed truly loves what he does!

Whether it's techy, soulful, deep, disco or just straight house, Jed's production is always funky. Growing up in California, he found great inspiration in artists such as DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Mark Farina and Chuck Love. His releases span the globe from Royal Hour in Serbia to State side heavyweights InStereo Recordings, Guesthouse and Dopewax. 

In 2015, Jed had the #1 selling track on Traxsource for InStereo Recordings - Urban Vandal.  And in 2016 he had tracks featured on both DJ Dan and Kenny Dope's albums and collaborated with Dan, Sean Sines, Felipe Avelar and Tim Brown.  In 2017, Jed had debut releases on Juiced, Mood Funk and Bid Muzik.  He was also featured on DJ Dan's 2017 album 15 Years of InStereo and played the InStereo Takeover at the Slutgarden camp at Burning Man.  At the end of 2017, Jed launched his new label Music Marks The Spot and came in at #21 in Jackin House producers on Traxsource.  Things are getting exciting for the label featuring collaborations with Sean Biddle, DJ Dan, Mr. E.W., Dave Keset and Rescue.  Be on the lookout for the Disco Sucks! series which is getting a make over and commercial release with new masters!!

Deekline is that rare figure in dance music, the seminal producer who balances the cutting edge and the mainstream with effortless flair. Boss man chief of the London to Brighton-spanning Hot Cakes collective of producers, promoters and DJs, this bonafide bass music icon is currently experiencing a new lease of life following the phenomenal success of his new Gutter Gutter imprint. 

Tracks such as Got to Believe, Deepa and the new jungle anthem Good to Have the Feelin, with the legendary Tippa Irie, have this year picked up play and support from some of the biggest names in the business, DJs such as MistaJam and Annie Mac, on Radio 1 and 1Xtra. 

In the studio, Deekline is a bonafide musical shapeshifter, his impressive diversity having seen him rework the likes of Armand Van Helden, Old Dirty Bastard and The Prodigy. DJ Mes ' Guesthouse Music ' Oakland, CA Bay-Area bred DJ Mes (Jason Sutton) rarely slows his groove. Since the 2004 inception of his Oakland-based label, Guesthouse Music, Mes has produced a prolific catalog of bass-heavy tracks that have scorched dance floors amid the ebb and flow of electronic music. As a DJ, his sets have inspired; as a producer, his montage of disco-dredged beats meld bump with rhythm and bass to create hot buzz in front of and beyond the speakers. In 2011, Traxsource honored Mes with the top spot on a list of 100 best house tracks of 2011 following the release of the bumpy Chicago-sound behind "Fools Gold" (Cajual Recordings). Mes' career dates back to the mid-1990s, when the future producer took early influence from the likes of DJ Dan (Funky Techno Tribe) and Tony Hewitt (Tango Recordings). Some two decades later, it would be DJ Dan who would join the talent ranks of Guesthouse Music, Mes' genre-defying imprint that earned him notoriety beyond numerous festival appearances, club residencies, and as co-founder of Daddy's Records (1996). Unlike previous endeavors, Guesthouse bloomed as a personal and creative project inspired by the underground house community that embraced the sound in the U.S. and overseas. While Mes continued releasing tracks on acclaimed labels such as Black Cherry, Magnetic, and Flapjack, it was his own Guesthouse Music that set the pace, releasing 150 EPs-including 40 vinyl releases-since its inception. Mes' ear for talent led to the unveiling of some of the most successful names in underground house, including breakout artists of 2011, J Paul Getto, who scaled the charts of Traxsource with "Need More Music" and "Paris Fried Chicken" Boundary-bending producers, such as Gramphonedzie, and classic acts, such as Cosy Creatures and The Sound Republic, exploded onto the scene under Mes' own A&R moxie. Even while he introduced new DJs and producers to audiences, he continued creating his own body of boompty sounds. While Mes looks ahead for talent, he creatively nods to sounds that inspired him to slide behind the decks more than 16 years ago. In 2011, Mes followed up his seminal "Fools Gold" release (Cajual Recordings) with a second EP, "Town Business." "Love Affair," a rework of First Choice's classic "Love Thang," climbed the underground charts alongside a remix of Two Ton's Of Fun classic, "I Got the Feeling." Even while maintaining a regular touring schedule throughout the U.S. and Europe, Mes continues partnering with the some of the scene's most lauded producers, such as DJ Sneak and his own greatest influence, DJ Dan. In December 2011, Mes and Guesthouse created another piece of house music history by releasing their 100th track, "3000" (J Paul Getto). For Mes, it marks the beginning of another phase of underground house evolution. Adds Mes: "I'm always working to sign new or undiscovered music and talent to the label, and maybe even throw a curve ball to startle people with a new, unexpected style or sound. It's what it's all about."

Peter Brown RIPEcast Guest Mix

On this weeks episode of the Space Cowboys RIPEcast, we are featuring a special guest mix from house music icon Jay Vegas.  Here is a bit more about the man, myth, and legend.

There's not many in today's scene whose music you can instantly recognize, but Jay Vegas has quickly become one of them, having developed his own unique twisted disco sound.

2010 saw the beginning of Jay's solo venture after moving on from previous alias Groove Invaderz. Since conception his funky style has been well received, gaining support from some of the industry's biggest names including; Erick Morillo, Mousse T, Norman Cook, Junior Vasquez, Danny Rampling and Grant Nelson. Grant Nelson in particular has helped push his sound by regularly featuring Jay's tracks on his Housecall Radio Show. 

In 2011 Jay joined San Francisco based heavyweight Jackin House label Guesthouse - settling in amongst a roster of hugely talented artists such as DJ Sneak, Gramophonedzie, Sonny Fodera, Gene Farris, DJ Dan and DJ Mes. 

As well as holding down a busy DJ schedule, Jay also runs his own imprint Hot Stuff Records. It's already become a firm favourite with DJ's, having released a string of Traxsource #1's with his own tracks: Say To Ya, Luv Drug & Body & Soul. 

Jay is no stranger to the music scene,he began his career in the early 90's alongside other local producers K-Klass and King Unique. Working under different aliases Jay remixed tracks for many successful pop stars like Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes To Hollywood) & East 17. His remix of East 17 - Hey Child (made with Matthew Roberts)went on to became a hit in Ibiza and Pete Tong's "Essential New Tune" as did his remix of Kaya - My God is Real which came out on Erick Morrilo's world famous label Subliminal. Jay's music has been released on all the recognized leading CD compilations: Ministry of Sound, Cream Anthems and Hed Kandi.

Jay's musical taste knows no boundaries and he has never been restricted by genre - his "If it's good, I'll play it" mentality has took him around the world playing at some of the best clubs, from Ibiza to as far as Australia.

On this weeks episode of the RIPEcast we are featuring HOUSEU Records recording artists, Earth N Days.  Here is a bit more about this amazing house duo:

The Earth n Days is a dj and producer duo was founded in 2017 with the aim of creating high quality house recordings that are standing around the world.
At the same time HouseU Records were founded. Already in the first year of their establishment, they have been shown with more music to stand in their own genre, since each of their 10 released music got their top 100 charts, and even their last 2 songs, Saxology and Got To Go, also made a major breakthrough on the main board (Top 10).
Still cumulating their successes, they signed up to the end of the year with Milk & Sugar, Bingoshakerz and Hotfingers, Jungle Funk and more… which are released early in 2018.
At the beginning of 2018, they won the “Producer Of The Year” prize at the Ballantines Music Award. 
Their music is characterized by energetic rhythms and catchy tunes.

On this weeks episode of the RIPEcast, we are featuring a guest mix from Italian tech house dj and producers Havoc & Lawn.  These guys have been changing the game in the tech house world with their releases in the past few years.  Here is a bit more about this powerhouse duo:

Havoc & Lawn was established by 2 talented young producers Simone Prati and Riccardo Mamoli in 2014.  After 2 years of releases in the progressive house arena, Havoc & Lawn honed in on their tech house style in 2016 and gained notoriety with their release ‘Jackin’ on Sosumi records, the best selling track on that label to date.  They have toured around the world including Brazil, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Italy.  They have featured releases on several notable labels including Size Records, Ultra Records,Atlantic Records, Flamingo, Sosumi, Staar Traxx, Armada, Cube, Big Beat, Zulu, and upcoming releases on Spinning Records.

Mvzzik is the musical alter ego of Dutch born Dj & Producer Frank van Rooijen. With a Gold Record and a Silver Record to his name, this Internationally acclaimed producer topped the worldwide charts as one half of the producers' duo behind one of the biggest club anthems ever - Lock 'n Loads' "Blow ya Mind". Frank's talent as producer and remixer has resulted in over 180 music productions spanning various music genres and has even led him to do an official remix for Queen's Freddie Mercury which has been released on Parlophone Records as well as an official remix for legendary 80's band Bronski Beat.
