The Zorx Offering

Danza Native owner Forest on Stasys brings his signature sound to the very first Mirror Tapes Worldwide. The organic approach of the Argetinean producer complements the ethereal character of the fresh Mirror Tapes label perfectly. ‘Kabata’ captures what we expected from the Buenos Aires based producer and brings some real dancefloor-exotica to this first Worldwide VA record. 

Mirror Tapes is a Melbourne/Naarm based label, founded by the talented producer Adam McCoy aka ‘Citizen Maze’. The label focuses on electronic music that captures the ambience and immersion of the world around us. Adam has been on our radar for quite some time now due to his extraordinary approach within his live sets, creating real sonic journeys. Happy to see his vision expand into this newborn label.

Third Space has firmly cemented himself back into that head-snapping drum ‘n bass percussion he initially poked his head through. While his recent jaunt for Longform Editions reached into smeared and smudged time portals, stretching time into its most razor-thin edge, this release brings these two worlds together in harmony. Although, those abstract whirlpools have reappeared, through noise and blown out static-as-percussion akin to Emptyset, Ikeda etc. etc.

Throughout dot points, there is an acute awareness around how much solid ground to allow an audience. An instinctive ear for rhythm and texture pushes composition to its limits but keeps more recognisable elements an arm’s length away, keeping immersion consistent, constant – an idea that’s been in Third Space’s work from the start. The tracks are daringly short but remain fully fledged songs, rich with layer and consideration, percussion building as lyrical prose, unwinding stanza by stanza.

While definitely drifting back into the realm of dance music, this is not Third Space leaving drone and tonal shifts behind him. This is merely dipping his toes back into the water of the world he first started in, ready to contribute something new after coming up for air.

01. Second Parse

Originally from Lyon, Nicolas Rifo is an artist who likes to explore unexploited sonic horizons.
Not confined to a set rhythm, it's the psychedelic aspect of the music that interests him. His world is often defined by metallic textures, deep drones and hypnotic rhythms.
Highly inspired by science fiction and space sounds, he is behind the recent @intelligenceufo label, which is the basis of his imagination.

The formation of a watery exoplanet begins inside a protoplanetary disk around a young star. This disk is made up of gas and dust, which gradually coalesce to form planetesimals, rocks and gases of various sizes.

Some of these objects formed further away from the star, in the so-called “carbon snow” region, where temperatures allow water to condense into ice. Over millions of years, these icy planetesimals continued to aggregate to form an “icy giant” planet, with a rocky core surrounded by a thick layer of water ice.

As the star matures and the protoplanetary disk dissipates, the young planet's internal heat gradually melts the ice into liquid water. This water then gradually covers the planet's surface, forming an oceanic exoplanet.

The volume of water present on the surface depends on the initial amount of ice, but it's not uncommon for these distant worlds to be 50-90% covered in liquid water, with only a few continents emerging. Their atmosphere is also rich in water vapour, often creating a significant greenhouse effect.

These are the main stages in the formation of an oceanic exoplanet. Of course, each planetary system has its own specificities, but this general scenario applies to many observed cases.

Transitioning from exploring instruments to DJing during his formative years, he eventually found his niche in crafting his own distinct sound. Following recent gigs in India's lively scenes of Goa and Bangalore, his music, spanning from deep bass lines to ethereal soundscapes, continues to strike a chord. With releases on labels like Planet Rhythm, Edit Select, and Illegal Alien, he's now pushing boundaries with new trance/psy sonorities.
