distant satellites is the highly anticipated follow up to ANATHEMA’s critically acclaimed 2012’s Weather Systems and last year’s stunning concert film Universal directed by Lasse Hoile. distant satellites was recorded at Cederberg  Studios in Oslo with favoured producer Christer-André Cederberg. Alongside additional mixing by Grammy Nominated Steven Wilson, ANATHEMA also brought in the legendary services of Dave Stewart (Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson) to create the new album’s extraordinary orchestral arrangements. ANATHEMA has been at the forefront of the UK rock movement since its inception, influencing a myriad of bands to follow. What began as a pioneering journey of melodic heavy music has outgrown all genres and limitations, fearlessly exploring new territories and new ways to express feeling through sound and now their star is rising ever higher.

distant satellites will be instantly recognisable to ANATHEMA’s global army of ardent disciples as another chapter in this band’s remarkable story. With a few strides into uncharted territory, not least the electronica-driven surge of the album’s stunning title track, distant satellites will surely be recognised as not only their finest album to date but as one of the most celebrated and lauded albums of 2014. A gleaming anthology of beautifully crafted songs, performed with vitality, verve and utmost passion, once again demonstrating the sublime, instinctive song writing talents of the Cavanagh brothers and drummer John Douglas. Complementing the album is the beautifully ethereal artwork created by Korean new media artist Sang Jun Yoo, based around his Distant Light Installation in New York. Having returned from a sell out North American tour with HIM in March 2014  ANATHEMA and are gearing up to begin extensively touring distant satellites starting with Australian dates, selected summer festivals and a tour across the Europe in the autumn.

Kscope is pleased to announce Falling Deeper, the new, fully orchestral album from Anathema. Falling Deeper continues where the acclaimed 2008 album Hindsight left off. The album features brand new arrangements of songs and haunting melodies from the band’s earliest days as pioneers of heavy music.

This is an album which will excite old and new Anathema fans equally. A fresh musical and lyrical approach has transformed songs such as Crestfallen, Kingdom, Sunset of Age and Everwake, which features the incredible voice of Anneke van Giersbergen.

The record has been produced by Daniel Cavanagh and was recorded and mixed by Andrea Wright at the legendary Parr St Studios, Liverpool (where the likes of Elbow, Coldplay and Echo and the Bunnymen have also recorded albums). The orchestral arrangements are from Dave Stewart who worked so successfully with Anathema on We’re Here Because We’re Here.

Released in 2010, We’re Here Because We’re Here was awarded Classic Rock’s Prog 'Album of the Year' as well as a host of other accolades.

The album was awarded Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year as well as a host of other accolades and the producer, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), has described it as “definitely among the best albums I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on.”
The band now return with Weather Systems, their brand new studio album. The album will be available as a limited edition 2 disc set which will come packaged in a deluxe digibook and feature a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.

Anathema have been at the forefront of the UK rock/metal movement for many years. They began their journey as pioneers of melodic heavy music, influencing a myriad of bands to follow them, before outgrowing all genres and limitations as they fearlessly explored new territory and new ways to express feeling through sound.

Formed in Liverpool in 1990, the band’s sound, and musical vision has continually evolved over the ensuing years while always remaining true to their original goal of creating forward thinking, meaningful, passionate and honest music. The line-up is really a collective of two families who were quite simply born to do it. Anathema consists of brothers Vincent, Daniel and Jamie Cavanagh, alongside childhood friends John Douglas and his sister Lee, who is an incredible singer in her own right.

There is a deeper bond in the group that transcends usual band politics, ego, and self-interest. They have a shared vision: to make the most incredible music they possibly can, and it seems, despite the lavish praise heaped on the band for their past work, that they are now taking their work to a whole new level.
