Terence McKenna on conspiracy theory

On a balmy summers eve in February of 1997, I first met Terence McKenna over dinner in a dodgy pizzeria on the notorious nightclub strip of the Fortitude Valley. Only hours later I would mix a spontaneous soundscape for Terence as he delivered an improv spiel to an intimate audience at The Zoo in Brisbane. This file is produced from the soundesk DAT recording, mastered by Pip Theobald. It remained dormant for several years and was only recently digitised- as it took so long to find a functioning DAT player. Some noise and clicks arise from the aged tape, other glitches and abberations are less explicable...Machine Elves? I hope to edit, enhance and remaster later this year.

Aside from vinyl and CDs being mixed to create the soundscape, compositions fresh from the studio of The ApeMan (Stuart Burgess) arrived as the event was underway. Several channels were woven as an ambient landscape for Terence to traverse, leading all present on a collective journey. The current raw edit is not for distribution, I hope that it can be remastered and fused with visuals so that the message can be projected to others.

"What civilisation is is 6 billion people trying to make themselves happy by standing on each others shoulders and kicking each others teeth in. It's not a pleasant situation. And yet you can stand back and look at this planet and see that we have the money, the power, the medical understanding, the scientific know-how, the Love and the community to produce a kind of human paradise. But we are led by the least amongst us, the least intelligent, the least noble, the least visionary, we're led by the least amongst us, and we do not fight back against the dehumanising values that are handed down as control icons. This is something, and I really don't want to get off on this because it is a lecture in itself but... culture is not your friend! Culture is for other people's convenience and the convenience of various institutions, churches, companies, tax collection schemes, what have you. It is not your friend, it insults you, it desempowers you, it uses and abuses you. Non of us are well treated by culture. And yet we glorify the creative potential of the individual, the rights of the individual, we understand the felt presence of experience as what is most important. But the culture is a perversion. It fetichises objects, creates consumer mania, it preaches endless forms of false happiness, endless forms of false understanding in the form of squirly religions and silly cults, it invites people to diminish themselves and dehumanise themselves by behaving like machines, meme processors of memes passed down from Madison Avenue and Hollywood and what have you."

This EP is going more into the typical style Merkaba Music is known for: Deep psystep beats with pineal gland tingling leads and deep joyful  healing textures. 

Two tracks are written in 528Hz since i discover to enjoy to write on this frequency more and more. The last track also contains an constant 8hz binaural beat which it is said to have a realix and grounding effect on the body.

The EP will be released on Merkaba Music with in the next 2 month or so (around July 2016 maybe)

"My notion of what the psychedelic experience is for is that we each must become like fishermen, and go out on to the dark ocean of mind, and let your nets down into that sea. And what you're after is not some behemoth, that will tear through your nets, follow them and drag you in your little boat, you know, into the abyss, nor are what we're looking for a bunch of sardines that can slip through your net and disappear. Ideas like, "Have you ever noticed that your little finger exactly fits your nostril", and stuff like that. What we are looking for are middle size ideas, that are not so small that they are trivial, and not so large that they're incomprehensible. That middle size ideas that we can wrestle into our boat and take back to the folks on shore, and have fish dinner. And every one of us when we go into the psychedelic state, this is what we should be looking for. It's not for your elucidation, it's not part of your self-directed psychotherapy. You are an explorer, and you represent our species, and the greatest good you can do, is to bring back a new idea, because our world is in danger by the absence of good ideas. Our world is in crisis because of the absence of consciousness. And so to whatever degree any one of us, can bring back a small piece of the picture and contribute it to the building to the new paradigm, then we participate in the redemption of the human spirit, and that after all it what it's really all about."
