A family of Fulgen refugees was stopped by Qyo Legionaries early in the month of Liparis, in the year 730 AT. They were banished to their fate by flying diptera for the crime of being born a Fulgen person, and though the family would never see each other again, this fateful moment would alter the political landscape of the Eastern Colonies on the mainland continent upon The Body. The story of the unstoppable Qyo-Kylyy religion starts here!

We are pleased to share with you the first chapter of Roses of War! This story will set a framework within the annals of early Kylyy-and-Fulgen history; how people born of plant and fungal matter strengthen their communities against the threat of a looming wave of religious dominance. Set before the introduction of Qyo's greatest enemy, that of the Electric Inventor-God Kahryatt, this story deals with the subtleties of those oppressed by powerful foes, and how a helping hand and a group of friends can stand against prejudice and injustice.

Approximate year 307. Found in the recorded rings of the trees North beyond the cities and safety. A priestess, whose name is banished to history, is given an in-depth re-evaluation after the discovery of her words transcribed in the surrounding trees and recorded in a single track. With the bias of Qyo recording translations, this is a fine example of a field recording in early history.

Feral Moon

I was asked to remaster a CD containing music performed by my Great-Grandmother Mildred Furse and her daughter, my Great-Aunt Margret Thurston, recorded in 1993. I was unprepared for the emotional output of talent wrapped in devout humility that washed over as I listened to these performances. Each of the songs performed were chosen by my great aunts, uncles and immediate Grandmother LeAnn. All are incredible performances, a few LDS hymns and a few show numbers, however the last song, a performance of Ave Maria requested by my Great-Grandfather Charles Furse, stood out more than anything. I had to be a small part, even if my dearly departed musical ancestresses couldn't be here to tell me not to add such weird synth parts to this interpretation. I hope Mr. Schubert doesn't disapprove, wherever he might be.

I never had the musical knowledge to accompany them, nor did I attempt to do so while my Great Grandmother and her daughter, my Aunt Margret, were here on Earth. With this recording of Ave Maria, I found a way to convey my wish to spend time with them again, as well as contribute something to their angelic musical sensibilities.

The Legendary Climb of Celastra Campsis - 564 (approximate):

In which a woman strays from her tilling to climb a figure within the mountains she has seen and curiously observed every morning for years. When her worried siblings find Celastra overgrown and perched at the peak of this particular mountainside, she tells them: “I saw in this mountain concealed the enemy of our ruin. My voice is too weak to awaken it, nor do I possess the strength to enact revenge for our Commumind’s weeding, but I felt ordained to scale this cliffside and offer my wavering stance to The Body atop the sleeping imposter.” After telling this to her siblings, Celastra’s brother hands her a spear with a meteorite tip. She cuts a node with blossom growth from her epidermis and ties it around its handle, and shoves the javelin point into an exposed crack at its flattened top, otherwise known has the head of the Colossi. This is known to the Qyo-Kylyy as the first ever evidence of a warrior martyr, the first to recognize a dormant sentinel of Kahryatt and claim it as vanquished by the plant-people.

While there is much to be speculated about the earliest memories of kylyy sentience, a combination between generational storytelling and the Campsis family themselves have helped to secure this as a mostly-factual event.

“The Climb” would be regarded as an instinctual phenomena, studied by philosophers and scientists the world of The Body over.

Guin, one of the earliest writer-philosophers, spoke of the phenomena known as ‘The Climb’ in a short recorded rumination: ‘As we stood taller outside the sacred soils, and as our nodes tightened and turned for movement, so too did our limbs stretch skyward. It is our every whim to face the sun, our every motive justified for the climb. It is our nature to pull ourselves higher, for our own sustenance of course, but even moreso that we stand tall above our enemies, in order to be noticed by The Body Herself.’

This early story showcases the early and learning spirit of the Kylyy vs. the unperturbed, ruthless and powerful Colossi, which will solidify into the Qyo-elite lust for conquest over the mysterious Electric God, Kahryatt. Whether as a religious point of inspiration or a secular understanding of the Qyo doctrine of toppling their ancient electric enemy, in the name of Her Body Divine.

Recorded by a Lipid explorer to a wax cylinder, inspired by that of an early Colossi model, this is the finest example of aural hieroglyphic preservation of a Perpetual Factory. Along with rough drawings and fresco paintings inspired by the journal of the explorer, this cylinder, preserved in resin, was at some point copied and shared as a high-dollar export to other colonies in the Eastern Colonies. No one could deny that the Lipids invented, or copied the invention of, wax cylinder recording via microphone and small electric-pulse preamp, resulting in the technology being copied and adapted in literally every single walk of Kylyy and Fulgen life.

The result is a chaotic study of mechanical hits, presses and metallic cuts that build and repair the Colossi, the accursed mindless sentinels of The Electric God.

In Abietis, we approach the mountainsides of Mnenos. As we get closer, we see a beaming-golden light shining beyond the fog ahead. Wild beetlesteeds graze on the purposefully-planted Hericium blossoms from the main organism, known as Hericium Regnum. It is a clear and beautiful sight for anyone to see the symbiotic relationship between the Ancient Trees of Mnenos and the Mushroom Kingdom, one that has taken millennia to perfect. 

The might and power of Hericium, growing and feeding on the granted remains of the Trees of Mnenos, are among the forces that threaten the existential identity of the Qyo-Kylyy Canyon Religion to the south. 

As beautiful and elegant as the Kingdom is, Hericium shows itself as the dominant biological species upon The Body Incarnate. Perhaps this is why Qyo never considered their close Fulgen neighbor to their North during the Roses of War; that, and their neural-connection with the network of spores connecting the Trees.

A yearning for youth in a simpler time, the Pistachio Phantom pauses to remember the good days before her family lost their orchard to the Qyo High Order.

She remembers the bustle of the markets where her family would trade their famed pistachios for fertilizer and mineral waters among other things. The Phantom remembers her charming father, selling their livelihood with a smile and a fair and even handshake.

Later, the family would settle in at Yarrow's Tavern and have a celebration for the day's activities. Summer has arrived! The smell and heat bless the Phantom's memory as she is lost within her youth. The coffee bar is open for business, and conversations won't end until late at night.

Finally it is time to return home to the Pistachio Orchard, where all their hard work initially began. Now it's time to prepare for the season's duties, as more pistachios will need to be harvested in a few weeks time.

These memories mean the world to the Phantom. They are all she has - - for now.

The King of Kings willed itself into an existential plane called The Body through pure electric impulses between channels of copper within a central mountain range. Thought alone knocked loose wasted stone surrounding a bulbous quartz reactor, and thought alone shook the reactor to transmit beyond the plane in hopes of finding more useful mineral deposits for which to construct a society of remote stone creations.
