Lowbit is excited to welcome another fresh new artist to the roster, Atóm, and his stunning EP "Chimera"; The EP starts with the eponymous "Chimera" just like the mythological beast it is named after, it has several sides to it. Starting deep and building up to a fiery crescendo, only to turn into a lush and vibrant breakdown and back into a epic peak-time dance floor track.

The second track "Sphinx" has a darker vibe, keeping it a bit more stripped back focusing on individual elements, pushing melodies back and forth in the soundscape. With clever sound design and modulation, the track pushes things forward underpinned by a minimal but groovy drums.

D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-Music rounds out the month of July by welcoming Soulmade back to the label for his first artist EP. Based in Rosario, Nahuel V aka Soulmade has gained considerable momentum since adopting the Soulmade moniker in 2020. A well-received debut via Just Movement would lead to standout projects for Deepwibe Underground, Droid9, Strangers Beats, Univack and more, across the next three calendar years. Having made his SLC-Music debut last year with a contribution to the label's SIX: Stage-14 collection, Soulmade now makes a welcome return with 'Sub-Zero', alongside remixes from Fabri Lopez and Federico Flores. 

Lead track 'Scorpion' finds Soulmade operating at the peak of his creative powers, as he lets squelchy stabs and astral sonics descend over thunderous grooves and rolling percussion. Bringing even greater tension across the break, it's a wall of trippy effects and distorted harmonics which ultimately set the stage for a timely crescendo and epic finale. Meanwhile, title track 'Sub-Zero' goes for a deep and heady approach, as ravey chord stabs and panning effects steal air, while a chunky, swing-heavy groove keeps the psychedelic storyboard firmly on the dancefloor. 

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Scorpion' is Fabri Lopez who is best known for his releases via Hoomidaas, Mango Alley and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Always an excellent remixer, Fabri brings more of a groove-centric vibe to 'Scorpion'. With an emphasis on rhythm and melody, the Argentine crafts a version which sits in a deeper cosmic space and should fare well on the morning dancefloors out there. The release concludes with Federico Flores returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Sub-Zero'. Fresh off the February release of his 'Big Bang' EP, the La Rioja resident rounds out the release in style, with a smooth hypnotic rendition which makes great use of panoramic motifs and evolving effects to create an intoxicating dance floor moment.

Univack presents 'Revizor / Coruto / Breakeform', a three-original-track EP by the russian dj and producer Jiminy Hop @jiminyhop (Konstantin Kuranakov). He is one of the fittest artists in the current electronic music scene. Also member of the successful band 'Krasa Rosa'. His style is one of the most versatile in the Progressive, Melodic, and Organic House scene, and this EP in the best example, in which we can enjoy a more experimental face of this producer and his complex skills to make music, with two Electronica pieces plus another Progressive House track that are inspired in his extensive music knowledge.

Joining the Meanwhile Horizons roster with a standout 3-track EP, HAFT make their Meanwhile Horizons debut with “Flow / Momentum / Rosewood”.

Inspired by “percussion, deep-rooted and hypnotising synths”, HAFT’s aim is to “put all these elements together to create a unique sound utilising various organic melodies.” Through their innovative production work, the US-based duo have hit the underground dance music headlines since late 2017 with a series of stellar Organic and Progressive House releases – sprinkled with a dusting of Electronica – on such esteemed imprints as Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Pipe & Pochet and Armen Miran’s Hoomidaas.

Making an appearance on GMJ & Matter’s flagship label with “Life in Motion” on the “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 4” compilation in September 2024, HAFT now take their Meanwhile Horizons bow. Opening proceedings, “Flow” builds on the percussive flow and bassline energy so pivotal to the duo’s sound. Replete with fizzing hats, whip-cracking kick and rolling groove, an array of effects and sounds add to the aural intrigue before smooth pads and filtered arpeggio create layers of melodic majesty. Coming to the fore at a stripped-back breakdown in a club-friendly pause for breath, the track picks up the pace in the second half as the rhythmic and melodic collage combine to devastating effect.

The aptly titled, “Momentum” creates an exquisite music odyssey as a gradually evolving rhythmic landscape adds layer upon layer of sound creating a rich sonic playground by its denouement. Ticking hats and rolling bass pattern then vie for attention with thickly textured pads and plucked melodies that filter in and out of sonic range. Waxing and waning through its different phases, the track finds a stereo-panned motif taking centre stage in the final act to create a work of stunning dancefloor prowess.

The final track sees the mellifluous tones of “Rosewood” quickly creating a subtle melancholic atmosphere. A subterranean bass adds heft and gravitas as an immaculately syncopated synth phrase creates groove aplenty in the second movement. Rippling arps and counterpoint pads add to the aural depth, as does a perfectly placed vocal motif at the breakdown. Hitting club-friendly heights once more in the latter stages, HAFT’s production skills are on full display as “Rosewood” reaches a smooth and blissful conclusion.

Characterising a unique and powerful sound that transcends the progressive house genre, HAFT have shown why they are such respected figures with their “Flow / Momentum / Rosewood” EP.
