Julian Muller’s progression into the techno scene has been marked by an eclectic odyssey through genre-defying soundscapes.

Hailing from France, via Berlin and now currently based in Brussels, he crafted his sonic aesthetic as a vinyl selector and has since produced his own signature sound that has led to the release of his debut album alongside precious releases on notable imprints KAOS and A.R.TS.

Julian just launched his own imprint : NALI,  with the aim to push his vision and creative spirit to support artists to grow within the strength of a unique creative platform.

Lars Huismann joins for DifferentSound Podcast #218.

Born and based Artist Lars Huismann started his journey in 2011. His music draws inspiration from various genres such as techno, house, and jazz, which gives his productions a unique and distinctive signature sound. Lars has released music on several labels, such as Soma, KAOS, Voxnox, and Mutual Rytm. In recent years, Lars has been heavily influenced by the early 2000s techno era, which is evident in his music. His signature sound combines fast tribal rhythm grooves, with sharp synth patterns and a clear Detroit house influence, which is instantly recognizable. The funky and jazzy elements in his productions reflect his background as a jazz drummer, adding a layer of sophistication to his sound. In 2022, Lars hit a new milestone by launching his Trilogy, "Sounds From The Past," on Mutual Rytm. The Trilogy comprises three EPs that offer a sonic journey through the history of early techno. Each EP represents a different sub-genre of early techno, including Dub techno and Latin-influenced tribal music, showcasing Lars' versatility and artistic range.

Starting his career at Concrete in Paris, the DJ quickly made a name for himself, gaining recognition with his EP "Forbidden Works" on Construct Re-form and the release of "Menace of Species" on Concrete Music. His productions,  showcase his unique melodic and melancholic style. As a skilled DJ, he has performed at international clubs and festivals, building a solid artistic reputation. He has been a resident DJ at Concrete for five years, captivating audiences with his diverse track selection.🪩

We are very happy to add this special Mix to our series, a sonic journey that begins with evolving textures, acidic synths, broken rhythms, and booming 808 bass. Strongly shaped by the raw and forward-leaning sound of 90’s Techno, Milan based artist Alarico Zucchi started his journey into electronic music in 2015 making his way through clubs as a DJ while learning the art of music production. 

The inauguration of ‘Alarico’ occurred in 2019 after previously exploring several sub-genres of Techno. The alias was formed as a statement to showcase a style that was personal to him. Personal in a way that he became captivated within the patterns and structures of his own sound. So-much-so that his multiple our long podcasts solely consisting of his own material made him stand out from a whole host of young and promising producers and DJs. 

Known for fast paced rhythms and kinky grooves he has released music consistently since his debut in 2020 on Joton’s imprint “Newrhytmic Records”. Shortly after he launched his own vinyl imprint “Katana Records”, which showcases the more mental and introverted side of his idea of Techno. He certainly cemented his rank in today’s Techno landscape through releases on Matrixxman’s highly acclaimed “The Grid”, Token Records and sees a bright future with a forthcoming release on SHDW & Obscure Shape’s newest endeavour “Mutual Rytm”. 

Alarico continues to position himself as a unique music lover, exploring the depths and possibilities of sound. He stands for permanently pushing boundaries and stirring this attitude with his background of Hip Hop and Japanese culture.
