For our 111th edition, we welcome Crystal Geometry, the French live act who commands an ever-evolving arsenal of hardware to summon a sound as mechanical as it is merciless and felt in the front row.

Rooted in the grit of EBM and forged in the shadows of post-industrial techno, his sound is raw, physical, and unflinching. A standout at Intercell: The Void and during our Soenda edition, his live sets don't just fill the room. They command it.

Crystal Geometry | Artaphine Series 111

Argentinian-born and Milan-based, Yamila’s personality was moulded by South American tribal rhythms, progressive rock synths, and dreamy sounds from alternative and electronic music. Shifting her choir experience into her sets, vocals and chorus became a core feature of her musical identity: a proper voice in the flow designed for the dancefloor. 

After 5 years of delving deep into Berlin’s techno culture, she brought back in Italy her emotional approach to music, slowly paving her way into the electronic music scene both as an organiser and a DJ. 

In 2021 she became resident DJ and active member of Closer, an authentic institution for inclusive and immersive party seekers: playing at Masada and Amelia, collaborating with high-calibre crews such as Bassiani, Tresor, Fuse, Vault Sessions and Meat Free, and sharing the booth with exquisite international DJs allowed her to develop a tight bond and an extraordinary sensitivity towards the dancefloor and its fluctuating moods. 

A mélange of evocative descriptors encapsulates Yamila’s auditory signature: passionate beats, uplifting grooves, peak-hour frequencies, drum-fuelled rhythms. But most of all, the essence of her sound cross-pollinates a wide spectrum of feelings and emotions, framed in an ethereal atmosphere and directed to touch your soul like a loving caress.

SAMA is the next artist featured in the Artaphine Series. The Dutch producer and DJ focuses on sound design and solid groove to craft techno with an emotional edge. His distinctive approach caught the attention of Secret Cinema and, more recently, Rødhåd — leading to a contribution on one of the WSNWG Various Artist EPs and a feature in Rødhåd’s Fabric mix.

This set showcases the art of an opening performance: a slow, deliberate build using minimalist elements to create an atmosphere that carries the crowd into the early hours — recorded at Club BASIS in Utrecht.

Hot on the heels of his latest ’Nature of the Future’ EP on Donato Dozzy and Neel’s imprint Spazio Disponibile, Marcal takes us on a mind-bending ride down raucous sine-scapes and brooding, verbed-out atmospheres, constantly pushing the envelope of techno as can be experienced these days. Resuming its course as a means for transcending our (currently much gloomy) zeitgeist, techno here gets back on its revolution-friendly tracks, finding its second breath as a metamorphic tool for blazing new paths and routes towards a better, more intelligently designed world. There goes a mix that summons the very finest of Marcal’s boundary-pushing vision and killer knack for crafting memorable and emancipatory floor narratives. Brace yourselves.
