Rothchord - Depth Meditation [APNEADW021]

Fresh from the Dutch dub techno, and house label, Spclnch (read Spacelunch) is the forthcoming Labyrinth EP from the mysterious Mielafon. Full to the brim with groove and feeling, our premiere for today lands squarely on Alexander Bogdanov and his take on the title track.

Building upon the melodic cues from the original, the Minsk based Bogdanov takes things in a decidedly more subdued fashion. Letting the chords develop and swell to the forefront, all while peppering in bits of texture, of claps, a hiss here and there. These details all lend towards a warm overall feeling that works well within the confines of bass-line and staccato like high-hats.

Alexander Bogdanov’s remix, and in turn the rest of the EP will be out on Spclnch October 14th.

The ambiguous title "NºXX" refers to both the Latin writing for night and number twenty. Much as "Tenth" (Other Heights, 2010) was a closing album for the Reduct series 1 to 9, "NºXX" is a closing album for the Reduct series 11 to 19.

As the reference in the title to night suggests, the music is all about nocturnal dub vibes, weaving through moonlit ambient clouds.

The natural course of any sequence is to experience rebirth at a certain point and tend to improve thanks to its character. One of such improvements is assigned the role of a guide to another dimension. Implicating a change of positions, the soothing pads shape the basis for realising artistic images. A soft straight kick sows completeness and regularity in the simplicity of explanations.
