Prolific house DJ and producer Thierry Tomas teams up with Belgian producer Pat Lezizmo for a two tracker on Steve Bug’s home for more reduced, hypnotic, and raw sounds, Sublease Music.

The Boy Who Recorded Birds is the title track for this release, and sees the pair collaborate on an amped up groover that instantly draws listeners (and dancers) in and keeps them locked throughout. A swinging, deep groove sets the tone, while the addition of various vocal snips, synth washes, and a funky bass keep the track moving and evolving throughout. A real treat from start to finish.

The Girl Who Drew Flowers maintains the funkiness, but boils things down to a more minimal state of affairs. The track leaves lots of space to get lost in, while carrying the vibe ever forward via clever drum programming and an infectious groove.

PREMIERE: Etzu Mahkayah - Luyten (Original Mix) [AIR001]

Release thirty-three has Manjumasi going down under for a showcase of deliciously groovy lo-fi minimal house music from Australian producer Michaelis. Each of the three originals puts forth a heady mix of restrained beats and basslines, complemented by a bevy of subtle sonic details, playful melodic flourishes and washes of ambient texture. The arrangements evolve gradually and intentionally, leaving plenty of time to get absolutely lost in the groove.

Two remixes of Special Assistance round out the package. The first comes from label co-founder Mark Slee, whose Rusty Transistor Dub takes the track in a more melody-forward direction with a modulated FM synth lead that meanders its way through the mix. Next up is Kooscha, another Australian master of minimal groove, with a remix that takes the track into a darker, late-night territory with a focus on atmospherics and a bit of extra shuffle in the groove.

The second collection by the Framed Realities label presents a number of surprises, with "Urania" noticeably standing out. A rebellious bass line sketches the sound panorama, while a nimble randomized snare, spotty cowbells and jerky synthesizers direct the listener's attention, giving a sense of involvement. The lining of terminal pads glues all the tracks together for maximum immersion.
