Russia's Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club arises on the Teardrop label run by Lovebirds with "I Need It", a collaboration with Moscow's Lipelis which is undoubtedly one of the more anthemic slices through the space between disco and house to have emerged in recent times. While his name isn't easy to slip off the tongue, SPDSC has been steadily building up a classy rep amidst the disco house fraternity, with a notable inclusion on a recent Tusk Wax 12", but "I Need It" might be his best work yet. This is a track that has everything; thick groove, heavily filtered stabs arranged in a playful manner, a killer vocal hook that weaves in an out of focus and a pleasant deviation into twisting analogue acid. Lovebirds are on remix duties too, along with Iron Curtis under his Leaves alias.

If you're going to launch a record label, it's vital to hit the ground running. This is what the Russian duo behind the Beats Delivery label have done with this first EP. Designed to showcase the emerging deep house scene in St Petersburg, it casually flits between shuffling goodness and eyes-shut groovery. The St Petersburg Disco Spin Club's sub-heavy "Like A Movie Star" takes top billing - not least for its curious combination of bass and cut-up sample magic - but there's little in the way of filler. Kirill Tipo's dense, off-kilter "Let Me In" is also excellent, while Ponty Mython's chiming "First Date" should be essential listening, too.

This Russian disco producer has been steadily building a name for himself of lateIt's all about mellow, good vibes over the course of six tunes, highlights of which include the slo-mo, disco house of the title track, which conjures up poolside soirees at sunset. The slick and shuffly "I Know Where You Are" covers the perkier side of things (try spotting a sample of Gravel Pit), as does the even housier "Back To School". If you're still hungry for even more stylish disco-house, then quality remixes by the likes of Volta Cab and Russian Adults are also included.

As the name suggest, The Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club was born out of Russia and the longwinded alias gives Francis Inferno and Deep Space Orchestra's a run for their moniker money. The Can't You See Me EP for Italian label Glenview Records represents the mysterious producer's first record of the year after a prolific 2012 and leads with a psychedelic and pitched down tenor on "Cant You See" that's not to dissimilar from Tornado Wallace's earlier Balearic works. It sees lazy hi-hat scrapes and thickly struck bass stabs hold down a funky and vocal groove. The dry pitter-patter drum beats of "Tender Melody" move to meet filter-delay horns which are reinforced by a complimentary bassline and vocals of dainty swoon. Two cuts for the early hours of a lazy afternoon.
