Francesco Farfa has got his groove back, leading to Danza Tribale number 10. In recent times, the Italian DJ has found himself re-energised once again, back in love with electronic music and right back at the sharp end of the underground scene. A true digger and sound obsessive, Farfa comes armed with decades of experience and musical appreciation, but now with a fresh perspective that means he is once again doing what he does best: turning musical emotions and compelling rhythms into dance floor art.

Reminiscences Nottetempo represents the soul of a dreamer, who often collides with his memories hidden in the fog: basically what they are.
"I have been living the night for many years and not only because of my passion for clubbing, but also because I am a wandering insomniac. 
In the nocturnal phase, when awake, this fog clears up and suggests thoughts that, digging into the maze of memory, bring you solutions that fill latent gaps"
'Il Bosco Delle lucciole' is a vision of dark energy illuminated by living forms, electrons of which everything is composed, as well as the space in which we vibrate.
'Novanta' is pure reminiscence, an abstract flashback to the origins of a movement that is consolidated as a "unique" phenomenon of the 20th century.
It is a song that smells of that memorable era which, fortunately, is positively influencing the new generations.

This EP brings me back to the studio after a long time, for the first time as an independent producer, starting a new path, hoping to be worthy for the continuation.
I am honored by the support shown to me by DJ Tennis & Adiel, with their fantastic remixes, an indispensable value added to the project."

Salut everybody... after 4 years of hiding in the shadows with a label emphasis on letting the music speak for itself and only unveiling artist names two months after release date we can now pull back the velvet curtain to reveal the two people behind Cod3 QR. Both deliver a track each on the label’s 10th release... ladies and gentleman... Cod3 QR is Laurent Garnier and Scan X.
After much speculation, the cat is finally out of the bag. Laurent is of course one of the greatest techno artists on the planet, having rocked every club and festival many times over. Whilst his legendary status has been catalogued recently both in words (the book ‘Electrochock’) and this year’s documentary film ‘Off The Record’ he remains as ever dedicated to the music first and foremost.
Laurent’s partner in crime, Stéphane Dri a.k.a. Scan X is one of the original pioneers of the French techno scene. His career began in 1993 when he released his first two EPs on FNAC MUSIC before signing to the now legendary F Communications run by Eric Morand and a certain Mnsr. Garnier.
Leading by example they have both contributed to the label’s tenth release. Laurent’s slice of dancefloor techno on ‘How d'ya like your Beef’ is as funky and emotional as we have come to expect from France’s electronic ambassador. While Scan X’s ‘Internal’ drags us into the murky depths with piercing sonar like stabs showing the way. The EP is rounded off by Italian producers Speaking Minds & Amarcord collaborating on the deeper rolling sonics of ‘Poliritmo’ whilst finally we head to Uruguay with the exquisite, string-laden techno funk of Diego Infanzon’s ‘Bye Bye’. A stunning conclusion.

Following recent appearances on Permanent Vacation, Mute and Correspondant, Terr makes a triumphant return to Phantasy with a deeply dreamy new single, ‘Wings of Time’. Marking Terr's third appearance on the label, and her first since 2019, 'Wings of Time' is complimented by a momentous remix from Tornado Wallace.

‘Wings Of Time’ serves to underscore Daniela Caldellas’ talents as both a producer and performer, a songwriter and a master of dancefloor atmosphere. Terr’s assured vocal performance once again takes front-and-centre, a warm beckoning light through a journey made of shimmering pads, wistful chords and defined by a powerful sense of groove. An instrumental edition further highlights the arrangement, which resolves with rare, cosmic catharsis.

Tornado Wallace appears to stretch the time Terr sings of on his elastic, tunnelling remix, grinding out every inch of tension and detail from the blueprint, expanding minds and widening eyes in the process. While Terr’s original will likely send dancers to the heavens, Wallace reverses the energy source for an unexpectedly bass-heavy interpretation that generates a different, earthier pleasure.

Exclusive: Dwaalgast feat. Shari Klein - Dwaal (Nuno Dos Santos Remix)

Dwaalgast and Shari Klein released their collaborative work, Pad, shortly before summer. Now their EP gets the 'dwalen' treatment and is provided with four remixes from artists such as Luna Ludmila,  Patrice Baumel, Luca dell'Orso and Something Happening Somewhere label-head Nuno Dos Santos. The latter reworks Dwaal into a dreamy House groover that hits the zeitgeist as the beforementioned – still not defined as a sub-genre – musical direction seems to come close to classic House music produced in the 90s. However, Nuno Dos Santos' approach is not 'another' production that tries to copy this era of music but is rather a smooth piece that vibes in this dreaminess and rawness that partly takes one back to a time when NYC was synonymous for this kind of sound – just that the Dutch spoken vocals from Shari Klein remind one of the present.

Exclusive: Superpitcher - Lush Life feat. Fantastic Twins

He’s back. He’s back with some lush music. He’s back with his Lush Life single. Aksel Schaufler alias Superpitcher, a Kompakt mainstay, the co-label head of Hippie Dance, one part of the Pachanga Boys and known as the ambassador of the golden rave days, debuts on the Live At Robert Johnson label with a two tracker as golden as the twelve ravey chapters he’s put out on his own label. Lush Life, the EP’s eponymous track, features French-Berliner Fantastic Twins’ for the vocals, and comes in as Superpitcher-esque on the one hand and quite different on the other. The almost ten minute lasting track is probably a typical Superpitcher feature, what is new though, is the selection of sounds and the result in general. Aksel created an utterly atmospheric take, which flows by as fast as the rave-days, and takes its listeners back to the days when Francois K delivered dubby House music takes per excellence, just like Superpitcher does now himself. Peaceful almost spiritual and endearing are traits that describe the emotional components the track evokes in its listeners with a Julienne Dessagne, Fantastic Twins real name, delivering those charming vocals that hunt you through the night and over the floors.

Superpitcher's single Lush Life will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on February 18th, 2022.

It’s common knowledge that KOMPAKT’s TOTAL series serves as our yearbook, a musical wrap up of the past 12 months. Therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that this year’s edition is informed by another pandemic year, where dancefloors were still mostly deserted and the devastating developments in Eastern Europe. Kompakt’s A&R team still kept on foot on the imaginary dancefloor, while scouting different realms apart from the big room euphoria. Anyway, brain dance has always been a key ingredient to our catalogue.

The Voigt brothers are opening this year´s vinyl edition in an unusually romantic fashion. ‘Why’ combines a bubbly FM bassline with lush washes of looped guitars. High off the (presumably high) heels of her recent album ‘Jesus Was An Alien’ she delivers a spanking new excursion into her sonic world, ‘The Hill’. Our Mexican friend Rebolledo makes his first ever solo appearance on TOTAL with his trademark hypnotic desert sound. Jürgen Paape is calling a spade a spade with ‘Le Monde À Changé’ – The world has changed indeed. Our prodigal son, Matias Aguayo, returns to the mothership with ‘Cinco Y Rojo’. An exercise in Chicago-esque groove theory paired with a cheeky visitor from Denmark. Spot the reference and win a pair of hooves. It’s hard to find a quality party around Cologne without Jonathan Kaspar on its bill. Rightly so, as he continues to hone his craft as an impeccable DJ and producer. Michael gives the tremendously talented Danish singer songwriter eee gee a proper Mayer treatment and Kompakt founding member Jörg Burger closes off the festivities with a groovy midtempo chugger that reminisces ‘Blue Lines’ era Massive Attack as much as the late Andy Weatheralls low slung psychedelia.

'‘Dont Worry Psy Happy’ is the 2nd release and namesake single from Sebra Cruz’s album. While the first single ‘Margaret’ was defined by classic Italian cinematic samples, this single doesn’t have any but a driving live bass guitar and four analog monophonic oscillators alternating open gates and cascade synth sequences. ‘Don't Worry Psy Happy’ is a tribute to psychedelic disco without sticking to classic formulas.

Speicher 125 is a most auspicious collaboration between two great, inimitable voices in techno: Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer, and Magazine’s own Barnt. They’ve both been productive of late, Mayer with his “Brainwave Technology” EP in 2021, Barnt with his first release on Kompakt, "ProMetal Fan Decor Only Product" in 2022. Of course, they’re also busy with their respective record labels, and international DJing schedules.

You may already have heard their first track, which appeared on Michael’s "&" album from 2014, the psychedelic “Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen”. For Speicher, though, they set their sights firmly on the peak time dance floor – the result is two stunning cuts of techno euphoria. 

On “Teller” Barnt and Mayer unleash a synth storm, tense and thrilling. Percussion piles up against the incessant buzz, but before too long we’re submerged in waves of dense texturology, making the track an object lesson in tension and release. “Duration” is a bittersweet anthem about "life long love". A moving voice tells us about "faith in life" while gleaming, synths, choral swarms and snares shower down from above to form an epic tale about duration and devotion.

Weirding the groove and updating the emotions, Speicher 125 is a monster.

Speaking Minds is the musical project of Italian DJ/Producer Simone Sinatti, active in the international music circuit from almost a decade and part of Circoloco Ibiza crew where he’s responsible for the Circoloco Radio programming. Resident DJ of the infamous Florence party Lattexplus, flagship of Italian clubbing, he also manages the successful label AEON as A&R together with founder Alex Niggemann. 
Being in the game for quite a while, in the last years things seemed to be shaping up nicely for him: some highlights of his recent years have been his gigs at Circoloco, ADE, Extrema Outdoor, Village Underground, Oasis Festival, Watergate, Cocorico and Off Sonar to name a few, sharing also the decks with some of the most respected djs of the globe including Laurent Garnier, Seth Troxler, Ben Ufo, Bedouin, Gerd Janson, Job Jobse, Palms Trax, Bambounou, FJAAK, Recondite, Pantha Du Prince, Miss Kittin and Marcellus Pittman. 
His music has been regularly supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Ame, Job Jobse, Jennifer Cardini and Mano Le Tough among others. With quite a few releases on AEON and My Favorite Robot Records, 2019 opened new doors for Speaking Minds: after his ‘Jupiter Express’ released on Correspondant, he followed up with “Blue Days”, track included on WhoMadeWho’s compilation for Watergate Records. Year continued with his return to mother label AEON with an EP accompanied with remixes by Fort Romeau and Moscoman, premiered via BBC1 Radio and gaining huge support all over the world. After COVID’s break, 2021 sees Speaking Minds releasing an official remix for Telepopmusik's classic track "Breathe" on Virgin Records and his biggest discographic accomplishment so far: a track on brand new Laurent Garnier's label Cod3 QR.
