Textile 1 (2006) for two pianos came into being when Egidija Medeksaite discovered the technique of mapping the patterns she was using in her textile work onto musical structures. The initial formula for a composition is fixed in the form of a geometrical textile pattern; the white and black elements of the grid convey musical microformations of the same nature but in opposition (for example, the ascending or descending directions of the movement of sounds), as if they were warp and weft of a textile. What is important for pianist here is to achieve the smooth, flowing, encompassing flow of sounds, as if they were the play and sparkle of small crystals.

Your Heart Is Frozen

This was written in August 2010, and was another of those tracks which appeared after I had merged two previous songs into one. 

The March 2013 edit/remix/master took 7 hours. I managed to shave off over 1 minute from the original, changed the timing of the quiet "breakdown" in the middle of the track, added to the synth "lead" line, modified one of the bass synth patches, split the kick onto a separate mixer track, changed the percussion panning and added a reverb. Then I EQd, levelled, added FerricTDS to the master bus and mastered. 

The July 2020 edit/remix/master is essentially a cosmetic update of the 2013 mix with a synth addition to the breakdown. The EQ has been improved, and I increased the level of the original synths. I have Satin on the master bus in the mix. For mastering I used T-Racks Dyna-Mu, Equal, Quad-Comp and the Stealth Limiter on quite gentle settings.

This remains comfortably in the chillzone.
