Savrun Brothers - Quid Pro Quo (Fabri Lopez Remix) [Soundteller Records]

Opening the summer season, Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Andres Moris and Alto Astral to the label for their debut EP. Based in Argentina, Andre Moris has been touted as one of his country's fastest rising progressive house talents. Although only a year into his production career, the Cordoba resident has already earned the support of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while landing releases via Antrim's Or Two Strangers, 3rd Avenue, Balkan Connection and Droid9. Now making his Movement Recordings debut, Andre teams up with newcomer and fellow country-duo of Alto Astral for a three-track showcase entitled 'Time Shifter', alongside a remix from label boss Tash.

Working with a strong creative synergy from the start, it is the title selection which leads the release off. Andres and Alto carve out a thunderous, low slung groove to act as the vehicle for waves of flickering percussion and buzzing synth lines. Delicate melodies emerge across the first act, eventually opening up for a strong vocal narrative. Hopeful and charming, these impassioned phrases carry the journey into the break, where tension rises and the framework resets for a groovy finale.

Providing the lone interpretation of 'Time Shifter' is Tash. The Greek artist and Movement brand founder has been a primary fixture of the electronic music underground for well over a decade. In addition to hosting some of Greece's finest events, Tash has also released his music on a host of quality imprints, most notably Beat Boutique, Beatfreak, FSOE and UV. Having recently collaborated with Shrii on a single for label affiliate Movement Limited, Tash now returns to his primary home for a stellar rendition of 'Time Shifter'. Staying true to the main themes from the original, the Movement boss opens up the framework for a greater sense of space where the vocal springs to life amidst a haze of buzzing synths and sweeping atmospheres. Chopped and reprocessed, the vocals play off the key changing groove, as cascading melodies and spine-tingling effects transfer energy into the main break. Coming to fruition, the full vocal emerges across the centrepiece, as kaleidoscopic arps and dynamic modulation spark a resounding drop and charged finale. For the less vocally inclined Tash has also included a dub which will certainly come in handy on the headier dance floors out there.

Rounding out the release are two more originals entitled 'Stargate' and 'Skylight'. The former finds the Argentinean duo drawing on their progressive roots with a smooth, melodious creation that's bound to find favour with progressive music's top DJs. A thunderous, thumping groove sets the pace for sweeping sonics and pixie-like melodies, before a tension filled break puts your sensors on high alert for a stomping final movement. 'Skylight' follows suit with a chunkier groove, choppy percussion, and striking stabs. Dynamic and powerful, its buoyant foundation is adorned with phasing harmonics, as it moves through emotive chord changes leading into the second of two breaks. Opting to dial in anticipation further, the centrepiece opens up into a rhythmic crescendo as the beats drop for a thunderous conclusion. A masterful track from Andre and Alto, which puts a resounding cap on an impressive Movement Recordings debut for the Argentinean duo. Don't miss it.

From a peninsula jutting out into the Mediterranean Sea, ARTN soars high above the Lebanon Mountains with immaculate "Kontrol". An elemental groove rolls gently into the ocean where waves of sound pulsate softly through powerful bassline pattern. Delayed motifs ricochet, criss-crossing over each other in muted patterns and white-noise washes crash against the rocks in cascading sound.

Greek mythology meets modern day musical philosopher as Simos Tagias epitomises a fresh new sound. Reworking a bassline with consummate "Kontrol", the beast is tamed with as LFOs slow and speed across reverberated synth lines while a glorious percussive groove forms a powerful bedrock. Straight from the sound garden, Weird Sounding Dude rises out of the bustling Bangalore metropolis with grace and dynamic energy. Smooth motifs drift alongside muted arpeggios as a driving beat and hypnotic percussion wrestle back "Kontrol".

Analogue power permeates through northern Ukraine, Tech D finds a new "Kontrol" via sonic architecture that builds through relentless beat and soaring melodic phrases. The result is a stunning juxtaposition of sound that blends delicate touch with fascinating rhythms.

The latest release from Clubsonica Records finds D.J. MacIntyre returning for a new single alongside Juan Ibanez who makes his label debut. American artist D.J. MacIntyre made his first appearance on the Colombian imprint in May of 2020 with the chart topping 'Conquistador'. As one of Beatport's perennial best-selling artists, the Santa Barbara resident continues to explore progressive music and its related derivatives through releases via Freegrant Music, Droid9 and his own SLC-6 imprint. Hailing from Argentina, Juan Ibanez has been touted as one of his country's rising talents since first appearing in 2019. Support from world class DJ Hernan Cattaneo, along with releases for Antrim's Or Two Strangers have etched Juan's place amongst progressive music's top up and comers. Now continuing their creative partnership, D.J. MacIntyre and Juan Ibanez land on Clubsonica with 'Haumea', alongside remixes from Fabri Lopez and Andre Moret.

Bound by a love for rhythm and groove, the cross-continental duo have crafted one of their most engaging creations to date in 'Haumea'. Pulsating beats, clattering drums and astral sonics begin the seven-minute journey. Senses heighten as striking chord stabs and cosmic arps unite across a swirling, tension filled backdrop. Anticipatory and dramatic, the main break continues to elevate mood with phasing noise, before a powerful drum roll sparks a thumping drop and electric finale.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Haumea' is Fabri Lopez. With two remixes over the last two years, the Argentinean artist has found a comfortable home on the Colombian imprint. With continued support from progressive music's key tastemakers, Fabri is coming off his best and most prolific year to date. Continuing that momentum as the new year begins, Fabri makes a welcome return to Clubsonica with a powerful remix of 'Haumea'. Backed by a full, driving groove, the Villa Mercedes resident has carved out a strong foundation, complemented with fluid pulses and percussive drive. Electric in design and hypnotic in scope, its glassy arps and shimmering overlays slowly descend over the framework, eventually carrying the piece into an emotive break. As the groove strips down, fragmented melodies and impassioned chord changes rise, opening up for moments of reflective warmth, before a gentle rush shifts energy into a heavenly finale.

The final interpretations of 'Haumea' are provided by Andre Moret who returns to the label for his second appearance. Amidst much praise, the Brazilian's Clubsonica debut 'Recover' landed in January of 2020, setting the course for a breakout year. Droid9, Freegrant Music and Mango Alley also played host to Andre's progressive sounds, while Hernan Cattaneo continued with his steadfast support. Now returning to Clubsonica for his first remix, Andre delivers two stunning renditions of 'Haumea'. Energetic and groovy in equal measure, Andre's main mix perfectly characterizes his clean, buoyant production style. A spacious foundation provides an immense sense of space, as lively percussion and playful electronics carry a wonderful dancefloor sensibility. Fragmented vocals and a shimmering arp further the narrative as the first act evolves, ultimately leading to dramatic break and thrilling drop. Meanwhile, Andre's 'Night' Mix stays to true to the main themes from his main mix, while opting for a fuller groove and greater peak time appeal. Building beautifully, kaleidoscopic arps and a wave of sizzling effects unite for a dynamic moment during the break, perfectly foreshadowing a striking final movement. Two stunning renditions from the fast-rising Brazilian artist, rounding out another must have offering from Clubsonica Records.
