Z.I.P.P.O  has been plugging away since more than 10 years in the techno scene, experimenting his talents in all genre’s from IDM to house to techno and always capturing the perfect aesthetic. 

Here for the first time, the SK_X series welcomes him to the expanding roster of artists. In true Z.I.P.P.O form he brings class to the table. 

Pulse and Distortion opens the 19th instalment of the series. With its groovy metallic synth line and restrained roars throughout.  Xuro hits a little deeper with the tom’s keeping the track in place as well as the ominous feeling over mystery surrounding the track. The B-side opens with Vocals by Celina Marie, over layering the mesmerizing synth sequence. Finally closing out the outstanding debut on SK from ZIPPO is the title track Morfismo. Ending where we started, with the drums and groove commanding to be heard in this production, the space around with washes of grit and texture.

Hailing from Manchester, with one of the most impressively diverse catalogues techno has to offer in modern times, Yant returns to the SK_X series with ‘The Raum’ EP. 

Leading with ‘Vortex of Lincos’, a pounding journey through a maelstrom of winding synth lines, captivating percs and rising tension throughout.  ‘The Raum’ brings this A side to a close with a darker tone - featuring pounding kicks, muffled vocal cuts and eerie atmospheric texture to match. 
‘Linguism’ leads the flip side with plucky bass and hypnotic tones before the EP concludes with ‘Transient Pulse’, a unique display of interesting polyrhythms and rolling arpeggios, all combined to encapsulate that signature Yant sound.

Yant - The Raum [SK11X021]

Previously contributing to the label for its third instalment with the ‘Restless’ EP in 2020, Border One makes his long awaited return to the SK_X series with the ‘Inner Sight’ EP. 

Leading with ‘Third Vision’, a synth driven odyssey loaded with rising melodies, morphing basslines and fluctuating rhythms. ‘Optical Void’, takes a more minimalistic approach in the form of a stripped back hypnotic groove, placing emphasis on pounding percs and haunting atmospheric tension. ‘Mind’s Eye’ leads the flip-side with layered synths and rolling low-end frequencies, all combining to form a raw, rough and ready club record. 
The player concludes with the title track, ‘Inner Sight’ - featuring a dark variety of plucky bass, echoing tones and intricate perc lines. 

Here, Border One once again displays his diverse production capability within the realm of techno.

Hidden in the shadow of this room, Jauzas looks at himself in a broken mirror, but he doesn't recognize himself, he doesn't remember ......the only thing he knows is that he's now on board the Nautilus submarine, deeper and deeper is an ocean of sounds ... Artificial lights, mechanical noise, and metallic walls... He starts hearing these voices but, he doesn't know who they belong to....using his sickness on schizophrenic beats from his electronic dark side, he becomes "Jauzas the shining."

B1 - Miserable Lie (MANASYt's Gaslighting MIx) BH DIGI MASTER

Holden’s third release on SK_Eleven, Dust,  showcases a striking evolution of his signature dark, driving sound. Rhythms are as urgent and rooted in the dancefloor as ever, but melodies have grown more haunting and emotive. This release sees Holden charting new sonic territory with two ambient tracks to open and close the record. Opener “Dust” brings melody and harmony to the foreground to set the emotional tone for the peak-time techno tracks that follow, while the closing track, “Frost,” ends the EP on a more hopeful note, its yearning melody disappearing into the mist beyond the sunlight.

DISTANT TRAUMA

Echoes have forever been a source of both fear and wonder. Composer Sarah Angliss reveals in this documentary made for Radio 4 why we find them so compelling and how we've tried to capture their thrill down the ages. Natural echoes have often been mimicked in music, creating a sense of other worldliness, and the echo effect has always been central to the world of dub reggae, as demonstrated by a performance by Gary Stewart and Trevor Mathison of Dubmorphology with Aniruddha Das from Asian Dub Foundation who push the echo to the edge of chaos.
