Certain dance forms lead us to communicate in curious ways.

Contact Improvisation dance floors are at the fringes of culture – but where they prosper, there are strange exhilarations: less bounded expression and a kind of fluid intimacy. 

Contact dancers move imaginatively, to whichever sounds they hear – sometimes also drifting to permutations of silence.

Taking journeys of sensation far into the realm of touch, all the better to feel.

This collection of songs evokes the delicacies of contact. Some we hope might directly soundtrack your motion, others just pay crooked homage to a culture that conjures.

This is a study into certain ideas about movement and people. Nothing is expected, nothing confirmed.

This mix soundtracked the unfolding of a novel custom, paraded at the AVOU summer gathering in August.

Four figures appeared at the front of the dome as the music played. The audience was invited to meet their hands, for motion and play.

This mix bears nearly three hours of winding explorations as James DJed for a lounge of interlocking bodies: 
–drifters in obscure motion and silent during a non-verbal hour.

There were paper and pens, so people wrote and drew to each other instead of talking. They would also mime, or speak with the body.

For December's event at Limehouse Town Hall, James will bring a fascinating set of ambients for dream or dance.

Eerie fragments of thought from the person who brought you "Playtime In The Changing Room". Working here with a feeble choir of dating-site rejects, shimble protrudes with a glazy swill of synths and flummoxing murmurs whilst drums dawdle giddily around.

Thick tapestries of folding fuzz, keys cascade as the beating plods towards the final flush. This is humping house music whilst the energised tambourine man shakes his glitzy tool above.
