'Barcelona-based duo Sumluv burst onto the scene in 2017 with the self- released ‘Ascend’ quickly finding favour with Redbull, who said they were one of the most interesting names in the electronic scene, and Clubbing Spain, declared they made “highly danceable refined house”. Which given the problems of recent times makes them even more remarkable.

They first made their debut on Spanish label Faneca Music in October 2020 with their ‘Balance’ EP, conquering editorial playlists on Spotify (Lo-Fi House), Tidal (Spanish Beats Underground House Spain) and Amazon Music (New Music Electronic), all for the first time. And they now return this September with single ‘Overthink’ accompanied by two brand new remixes taking things up a notch for the duo.

In original form, ‘Overthink’ is a classy melodic cut brimming with moments of genius. Deep pads, skippy percussions and dubby keys create an aquatic world of joyous promise from which Detroit-y sonics conjure up powerful mental dreamscapes. On remix duties, UK artist and Anjunadeep regular, Lawrence Hart, picks up the pace for a peak time slice of dancefloor chaos, while Otik, who recently featured on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint, goes towards the other direction, creating a dreamy broken beat re-rub that bristles with bass tension.'

Navigating us through these topsy turvy times, Joris Voorn whisks us back to a 92 state of mind with this powerful update of a stone cold Dutch techno classic.

Originally produced by The Tellurians (AKA Robert Smit, Ferry Corsten, John Matze and Rene de Ruyter) the original 'Navigator' was a humungous hit across Europe and helped to define the exciting European sound that was emerging in house and techno at the time. Now, 29 years later, the Spectrum boss closes the loop with sincerity, clarity and some seriously heavy bass.

Lowering the tempo, fattening the groove, bringing that demonic one-word vocal to life and adding weaves and weaves of little production details, 'Navigator' has been modernised with subtlety and dark nocturnal soul. Already a key track in Joris' 'Global Underground 43' mix album last year, this marks a whole new lease of life for a track that's older than many of us DJs and ravers alike. Released as the entire scene enjoys a whole new lease of post lockdown life.

The final edition of our free download series for 2021 welcomes Bart Skils for his first appearance. As one of Holland’s hottest electronic music exports, Bart’s pristinely produced brand of techno finds that rare between forward-thinking creativity and dancefloor sensibility. It’s this unique amalgamation which has led to standout releases via Break New Soil, Cocoon, Drumcode, Tronic and Rejected, while also leading him to remix top international talents Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Joris Voorn, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Nicole Moudaber. Also celebrated as a DJ, the Amsterdam resident often programs a bevy of exclusive music into his sets, perhaps none more famous than his much loved take on ‘Papua New Guinea’ by Future Sound of London. Released in 1991 by the iconic British duo and favoured by a broad selection of electronic music tastemakers, Bart took to reworking the track last year and it quickly became a highlight in his sets and those of his contemporaries, most notably Drumcode boss Adam Beyer. Now as 2021 winds to a close we’re happy to offer Bart’s much sought-after version as a free download. Enjoy!
