my Lodge 2023 opening set. this is a wildly self-indulgent attempt to choke out my own possession by the emergent, insidious long tail, to sever and cauterize my own phantom version of it, and shove it in a reliquary before it’s penchant for nostalgia and misplaced utopian ideals consumes me. it is a haunting and an exorcism all at once. hopefully it’s grip on me is laid to rest there to some extent; transformed into an object neither sacred nor profane…. a prayer inviting in rest…

i will always and forever commit to the bit; this is no exception

i had considered doing a polished studio version of this because so many of the scraps and found memories i had intended to force feed down the long tail’s throat stayed dormant on my usb out there amongst the trees. but the relic i conceded decision making to during my set had different plans for me...

thanks to madi, gia, and kayla for inviting me to play. i’m grateful for your trust in letting me go off the rails. i can’t imagine a better venue for this and was terrified to offer it to you amongst all the beauty and sincere devotion you and others have cultivated there.

thanks to chiara, ebb, john, michael, scott, winter, and haunted, tortured past versions of myself for feeding me ideas and sound blips and for listening to me ramble neurotically about this current fixation

and all my love to mark leckey for being so transparent about his evolving obsessions and ideas and the ways his own relationship with them have proven troubling and challenging. his mania, humor, and sincerity have been a salve to me for going on two decades now and i will always be inspired by him
