When Big Youth sang in 1972 “I want you leave your skeng at home” it was directed against the gun and knife violence in Jamaika. Since then the word skeng or skengay has entered UK English and became a staple of the Patois use in Reggae, Jungle and such. I have to self-critically admit I didn’t know that background before writing this track’s credits. I just took the “skeng”-sample as one of the many samples and expressions that originate in bass music, introduced in this case by The Bug’s classic track Skeng that appeared on Hyperdub in 2007. 

My 150bpm track builds on an aggressive clap and a snappy snare, technoid moments and footwork-jungle elements and further quotes a deconstructed Amen break (once again). I think, the more you listen also to my other tracks, the program gets obvious. Stabs coming in give it a rave vibe, setting the dance floor on fire in the most positive way possible.
