Since the release of his debut single “SuperJam” on Jeffree’s last year, Juyen Sebulba has gained impressive momentum. Etching his wild big room sound into each track, Juyen has been on the up and up receiving recognition from the likes of dance music moguls such as Laidback Luke, who has since signed him to his record label, Mixmash. With his latest track he’s teamed up with Australian producer and Electro/Dutch House wiz kid Rob Pix to deliver a massive tune just in time to take over your soul. “Body Rock” is a result of the floating head from the epic Sean Connery film “Zardoz” spending a weekend at Ultrafest and deciding to lay down a track. Designed to seek out the deepest corners of your inner ear hole and destroy any speaker system via guns and candy bracelets exploding out of his mouth!

Soms gebeuren dingen omdat de wereld er klaar voor is. Tijdens de voorbereidingen van DR’OP, een clubconcept van poppodium Effenaar, komen dj’s Spektral en Kobuz elkaar tegen. Niet veel later geven ze een stevige b2b electro gig bij het feestje: Dak er af. Een gesmeerde samenwerking die smaakt meer. 

Het duo krijgt een eigen wekelijkse avond bij dr.Ink in Eindhoven. Een jaar lang breken ze vol overtuiging op woensdagavond de week doormidden. Spektral en Kobuz experimenteren er vol op los en raken beter en beter op elkaar ingespeeld. Niet alleen qua muziek, maar ook als duo achter de knoppen. Het oog wil natuurlijk af en toe ook wat. De muziek schuift langzaam op naar meer bass heavy stijlen, zoals UK bass, trap en drum ’n bass. Veel variëteit, maar vrijwel altijd met een rauw randje. En in welke stijl de plaatjes ook thuishoren, de heren weten altijd de pareltjes te vinden. “All Killers, No Fillers”, voor slechte muziek blijf je maar thuis. 

Diverse back to back gigs op feesten als So What Festival, Heibel en Koninginnenacht volgen en opeens komt ‘een zekere Lisa’ met de naam Spek & Bonuz op de proppen. Over voltreffers gesproken. Om dit te vieren duikt het duo gelijk de studio in, om vervolgens op Frequence hun remix van de Jones & Stephenson klassieker ‘The First Rebirth’ de wereld in te helpen. Het feestballetje rolt naar diverse plekken binnen Eindhoven. Vele avonden in de Effenaar, Area51, Dr. Ink, Dynamo en op Thunderdommel wordt de boel op z’n kop gezet. Maar ook Maastricht en poptempel Paradiso ontkomen niet aan Spek & Bonuz.

Naast draaien en het remixen/produceren van tracks blijft er voor Spek & Bonuz zelfs nog tijd over om een eigen clubavond te beginnen in Eindhoven. Samen met dj Bram van Helden organiseren ze iedere maand ‘Gedonder’ in Dynamo. Een gratis clubavond om de donderdagavond in de stad wat meer muzikale diepgang te geven. Bass heavy en iedere keer met een kersverse gast dj.

Na Paaspop hebben Spek & Bonuz het festivalgevoel in hun vingers zitten, genoeg tenten om te laten ontploffen in Nederland. Daar hebben de heren met hun knallende setjes in ieder geval geen enkel probleem mee. En jij vast ook niet.
