1976. A cosmopolitan era of hedonism closes as Singapore is cleaned up. Tony is married with a family and a successful film business. Today he's visiting his mistress in Pearl Bank. His life should be perfect, but it's falling apart.

1960. A year after Singapore achieves self-rule. There's a buzz in the air. The National Library on Stamford Road opens, but there are no books on the shelves! Meet Tony, dreamer and book lover. Everything is just beginning.

02 Track 2 National Library

Ghostwalking takes the form of a free download, which people can listen to and watch on smart phones or media players. This artwork is a completely unique way to experience Singapore, its places and history. 

As they travel on the MRT and stop off at stations along the North East Line (NEL), audiences will be immersed in stories and characters who appear to haunt these spaces. Ghostwalking  is made up of four audio walks and three video journeys (not currently available). 

On the audio walks listeners follow four chapters in the tale of Tony: he conjures fragments of a life that spans Singapore’s history and future. He tells stories, attempts to make sense of his life, or dream a new one up. Tony is haunted, or is he haunting these places? 

Ghostwalking has been designed to be experienced in a specific sequence in the specific locations. You are encouraged to follow the order in which it has been designed. 

How to ghostwalk? Simply download the audio and video for the 4 walks and 3 train journeys to your device and head to the first location. 

1.	Before you begin your journey, listen to Audio Track 1.

2.	Starting Point: Red Pillars outside the old National Library on Stamford Road.

Desire Paths is an immersive audio walk set in Little India. It was created in 2004 by Ben Slater and Kaylene Tan in collaboration with Evan Tan.

Listen to the sounds, the stories, the noise, the whispers, the secrets, follow the orders, get lost, be found, investigate further, check the map, drink some water, keep your eyes peeled...Two narrators compete for your attention: ghosts or lovers, they have gone down this route many times before and this time they implore you to follow.

Along the way there is plenty to see, nothing to lose and much to discover.

Plunge yourself into a rich cinematic imaginary world suggested by sounds, music and voices as you traverse the streets around Serangoon Road.

The journey begins and ends outside 65 Kerbau Road.
