DUALITY: An album in two parts.

Since day one, I have always struggled with how to present myself. Am I a dance music producer who does downtempo / experimental albums? Or is it the other way around? My first album had a bit of both, which is why I have referred to ‘Duality’ as the true followup to ‘It’s Artificial’. Part One focuses on the downtempo side of things with hints of indie-pop, while Part Two explores my progressive and trance roots. This is by far my most raw and honest work. On June 1, we released two songs from each part: “Equal” with Asbjørn (Official), and “Midnight” with Alison May.

I did not do this album alone. These are more than just “features,” these are collaborations. Together, we have woven a massive journey that is deeply personal, and showcases our most vulnerable selves. Many of these fabulous collaborators are also LGBT+, and I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful musical family.

Purveyor of the progressive house scene for over a decade, James ‘Jimbo’ Cayzer aka Jaytech returns to the Anjunafamily with his first three track EP on the label. The first song I wrote for this album, “The Gardens” was composed after spending a rainy day in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens with friends in mid-2016. I was a senior at Duke University at the time. “The Gardens” (as they are commonly called on campus) are usually packed with students and visitors, but we had most of the 55 acres of beauty to ourselves; the rain seemed to drive everyone else away. Look up some pictures and imagine it in a warm downpour—inspiring!

I debuted this track at the LA Convention Center on the first stop of Above & Beyond’s Common Ground tour.
