All four movements of Holst's 2nd Suite for Military Band, arranged for just handbells and chimes, capturing all the colors and atmosphere of the original just using handbells and various techniques. This is a lovely, poignant piece that paints a musical picture of a quiet sunrise in the mountains. It can be used as a meditative piece for a church service or as a concert piece.

Sailing Away

This unique piece is a musical walk-through of a haunted house. In addition to using a variety of techniques, such as TD, mallet rolls, mallet work, and shakes, spooky sound effects like whispering, screams, or even an evil laugh are encouraged as you play. Its creativity is sure to be a hit with concert audiences.

I'm the Technology & Public Services Librarian at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse by day, composer and list maker by night. Many of my compositions are for handbell ensemble, but since working on my Master of Music degree in Composition at Butler University (completed May 2010), I've been broadening my compositional horizons and writing more contemporary classical and experimental music. Many of my newer compositions are for small ensembles of various types.

I have also been composing "performance pieces" that I have called Musical Deconstructions. These short pieces explore the different fundamental elements of music using avant garde styles and techniques.
