The Pennsylvania based label was started as a way to push music with ideas that weren't based in genre or popularity. Founded in 2016 by Matt Lutz,  JEROME is an experimental label and platform, looking to push the boundaries of music through audio and visual projects.The label started out as a simple mixfile series, focusing its efforts on lesser known talents and allowing them to be heard. The mixfile series developed into a label and has done releases with such artists as @worli, @MortenHD, @bleiddd, @anonymouscomplicity and more.

SOUNDS OF YEKE: JEROME

Austrian producer @awo_ojiji brings his Mantecatura EP to Scuffed, featuring four new intricately-crafted, bass-heavy cuts.

Making his Scuffed debut on the Scuffed Presents Vol.5 compilation back in 2020 with his track ‘Woozy’, Awo Ojiji quickly picked up support from the likes of Ben UFO, Chloé Robinson, and Madam X with his surgical approach to sound design and genre-dodging sound. Following up with his Ridicoloum EP on Eclipse Tribez in 2021, he marked himself as one of the most compelling new producers to emerge in recent years.

Now, the Graz-based artist - who is a long-time resident of the city’s disko404 collective - returns to Scuffed for a full EP, flexing the full range of his production capabilities across four eclectic tracks.

From the mid-tempo opener ‘Recess’, to the footwork-influenced ‘Stress’, bassweight-focussed ‘Balsam’ and percussive dancehall-techno hybrid ‘Inwards’, Awo Ojiji displays a unique slant across the course of the EP with tracks that are at once club and headphone ready.

Though it might seem Spider Web Radio was brought in to this world around fall 2014, business has in fact been running as an underground phenomena for longer than one would expect. Refusing to abide legislation forced down upon his empire, leader Alf Goblin left the public domain of radio broadcasting never to return. However, love for FM persisted and the radio show lived on as a pirate affair.

The radio show is broadcasted from the depths of Goblins personal residence, a 12th century castle, complete with a 70-foot fortificated wall surrounding the southern end, which came in to his possession in a somewhat obscure way. According to people who frequented the emerging years of the club, Alf supposedly attended a proto-trance rave in a secluded forest during the peak of the golden era. After tumbling down a rabbit hole he is to have woken up, blunt, bored and alone, in the quiet darkness of the castle underground and began to set up shop.

Besides accommodating the modest studio, the vast system of sewerage is now also home to the some what more lavish Club Nite Site and the sporadic events of Crossfade Wars. Andrée Antenbrecher, Dill Gomez and DJ Zoega are just a few of the resident disc flippaz who've been dominating the Nite Site Soundsystem and breaking their sweat in the Crossfade Wars over the years.
