Stephan Zovsky @ Schuhkarton Fusion Festival 2014

Stephan Funkmann celebrates his debut on SPIELGOLD with his latest release “Glückseligkeit EP”. This time he is featured with great vocals by Lia. She gives with her warm, soulful voice a special touch to both tracks. Here, the eponymous track “Glückseligkeit” stands out particularly. Warm, clear vocals meet sophisticated, groovy percussion elements and smooth synth sounds. The second track “Baby” starts with a melancholic, minimal intro, where piano chords play a major role. Finally the track transforms into a melodious, cheerful deep house track. The package is completed with remixes by Stephan Zovsky (3000 Grad Records, Style Rockets), Monetic (Cyclic Records, Disclosure Crew) and Sebastian Weiske (Bondage Music, SPIELGOLD)!

If you're looking for a B side, you've come to the wrong place. These two peak time bangers are capable of shutting down a rave just for the fun of it and believe us, we've seen it happen! 

Birmingham based producer Marc Spence gave us what one could only describe as Pandoras box. “Nasty” broke the TAB lab's studio monitors the day we heard it and “Stop Interrupting” still taunts our minds at night. Joking aside, this unique pair are some of the finest craft work we've had the pleasure of releasing.

Having caused a fair bit of fuss with our recent “Even More Selections” release, we felt we had a lot to live up to, but Marc's debut with us has arguably upped the game once more.

Next up on John Digweed’s forward-thinking Bedrock label is an exceptional single-track release from a key member of the Hamburg-based Diynamic collective – Holger Behn aka H.O.S.H.

‘Lunchtime’ with its infectious, restrained, inexorable upward trajectory is a masterpiece that bides its time.  Nothing is rushed, the pace is perfect, the arrangement sublime.  The complex interplay of percussive parts becomes an integral melodic element, underpinned with the rising swell of deep bass pads, steadily building towards a euphoric breakdown before re-launching into a heavenly final movement of blissful magnificence. 

It is no wonder that ‘Lunchtime’ is such a master-class of musical brilliance, because H.O.S.H. is a DJ who values the art of mixing records and sequencing journeys - preferably long ones - over anything else.  Anyone who has been witness to his DJ sets played during his gigs on every continent over the last few years would be unlikely to disagree.  His lengthy sessions behind the decks have afforded him an exceptional, invaluable insight into exactly what works best on the world’s finest dancefloors.
