DC Promo Tracks: Simon Peter "Souvenir" (Peaking Lights Ode to Brian Wilson remix)

This morning’s Music To Make Your Ears Smile session felt like a slow-motion sunrise — a set built around space, warmth, and a bit of wanderlust. We started adrift with Ecovillage feat. Nightlands, drifting through ambient textures before Yarni’s The Romantic Ghost pulled us gently into cinematic grooves.
There was something powerful in Soo Chul Kim’s The Way to Hades — that bridge between ancient and modern always catches me. From there, we eased through the Balearic glow of Statues’ Radiant Sun, the feel-good shimmer of Ralph Myerz, and the hypnotic funk of Prado.
Old friends returned too — Mary House’s Searchin Dreams, Love Quartet, Avarice, Chris & Moi — all those early-90s moments that shaped my love for downtempo and Italo house.
We closed on a high with Bel Batista’s Disco Mousso — a cosmic French-disco gem that lifted the whole morning skyward.
A mix of pulse, nostalgia, and calm — still glowing hours later.

The last 1BTN radio show of 2025. Where did that year go?
A good mix of some hot of the press digi-promo action, and some long-time favourites. A few things I’ve written posts about recently on my Instagram and Facebook pages, nestling together with some really great new releases.
The usual gentle start, but with a Scando-jazz, into Japanese ambient-dub, into space-age Krautrock flavour. There’re some Balearic chuggers, deep-soul, discoid-jazz, the usual weird dubby section (thank you Dubwise Vinyl), and a selection of ‘floaty bangers’ (Test Pressing) both old and new, to see us through to the end.
Been another shit year in terms of just about everything other than music, so thank fuck we have that, eh folks!

Spikey is known for having started DJing back in the mid 80's, playing at pubs and house parties. In the early days of Rave he then progressed to play the underground scene at clubs such as Sterns and Empire. Having then moved to Brighton he gained residency for 'The English Disco Lovers’. 
He now has his own radio show. Music To Make Your Ears Smile,  on 1BTN and has close ties with the 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Charity'. Having a love for delivering sound in its purest form which has lead to a close connection with Funktion One. This has given Spikey the chance to play at Glastonbury many times.
