It started off with a production challenge to remix a classic track into a different style. DJ Spinmaster selected the Rave Bass classic 'Who's The Bad Man' by Dee Patten originally released in 1991 before getting a bigger release in 1992 on Leftfield's Hard Hands label. The original was known for fusing reggae & dub elements onto a breakbeat rhythm section and a huge baseline. This remix ups the tempo into Jungle D&B territory before pausing for a steppa section midway.

DJ Spinmaster returns for Volume 2 of his Illicit Beats series. This time there is a mixture of tracks from Piano Jungle to '94 style Hardcore including an Acid Jungle Techno track. 

The second track heads in a Happier direction. There was a time in 1994 as the genre known as Happy Hardcore started to emerge where tracks existed that combined uplifting breakdowns, ruff breakbeats, techno synths and 4/4 kick drums. This track is an attempt to recreate that vibe. Piano & diva breakdowns lead into darker synth main sections and all driven along by a solid 160bpm kick and chopped breakbeats.

DJ Spinmaster - Gimme Your Love

DJ Spinmaster returns for Volume 2 of his Illicit Beats series. This time there is a mixture of tracks from Piano Jungle to '94 style Hardcore including an Acid Jungle Techno track. 

As a bonus a third track is included that sees DJ Spinmaster try his hand at Jungle Techno. More driven by the 4/4 kick than the other tracks this one takes more inspiration from Techno as it motors along at a brisk 155bpm. A 303 style acid line leads the track.

DJ Spinmaster decided to combine two things he loves, Amen Jungle and Pianos. In this 160bpm tune it combines the ruff with the happy in something that hopefully will go down well with both Junglists and the Hardcore Revival crew. A mid-point breakdown brings in a lush pad to contrast with the other parts.

"Born Slippy" is the most famous track by Underworld after its inclusion in the soundtrack for the Trainspotting movie. But I've always preferred the other Underworld track used in that movie's soundtrack. The hypnotic "Long & Dark (Dark Train)" accompanies the scene where Renton is locked in his bedroom and goes through some disturbing moments as he attempts to beat his addiction.

This is my attempt to make it into an Atmospheric Drum & Bass tune. I hope I've done the original track justice.
