Probably our last grand rock number as we start to wind down to finish our first collection of songs. Al took the reins with the lyrics on this one (and as always, the beautiful artwork) - inspired by a short story by Julia Armfield in Salt Slow and apparently an episode of Buffy! I just thought it sounded dead cool and really enjoyed singing her lyrics. Musically inspired by Nirvana, Elliott Smith, Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell.

This song started as many of our best do, with Chris coming up with it on his acoustic guitar. He shared it with the rest of us shortly after, and we were all very excited to tuck into it. 
  Ken was fist at the trough for this one, adding his jazzy, expressive drums. Josh came in as soon as he had a beat to work with, adding his signature fretless bass to the mix. Not long after that, JJ broke out the hauntingly melodic piano and Shine On You Crazy Diamond timbred synth you hear throughout. 
  Once it had a good structure to it, Mark came in and added the dynamic cello swells that open the song, some subtle strings, the melodic clarinet and flute, and a bit of synth pad near the end to spice up the soup a bit. He also had the great idea to ask Nyla to add some vocals, which she did in her typically dynamic and expressive way. Last, but definitely not least, we convinced Stephen to add some of his perfectly mood-setting banjo. 
  Once it was all in the can, it actually sat for several months before being revived by Chris, who also did the production and mix, expertly, as always.

  Also, this is our first time collaborating with Nyla K. We wanted to find a way to include her talents on this one, and her vocals here are magical. WL//WH Premiere: MULTIPLEX "Al novox" (off the "Colour Kinetica" LP) [Bricolage]

Hot on the heels of the huge celebrative 10th anniversary compilation "X", Glaswegian independent label Bricolage label (@bricolage-g5) hits the ground running with an absolute titan of a release from legends of the electronic underground, Multiplex (@user-64321338).

Multiplex is the longstanding project of British electronic brothers Christian & Roland Dormon, renowned mainstays of the so-called 'second wave' of IDM scene since the late 90s, honing their craft over the years through a raft of albums and EPs on some great labels such as Piehead, Lom, Senton, Progerik and the seminal Toytronic.

Based on separate sides of the Atlantic, the brothers produce by sending music back and forward to each other from separate studios.
The “ Colour Kinetica” album has all the Multiplex hallmarks. Abrasive yet vibrant melodies, cyber basslines and elastic rhythms. They take the genre’s bleeps and bass elements and put them through their own audio grinder to create a unique brand of head-spinning electro.
