POV: You’re in a toxic relationship, and it feels like you’re constantly walking on eggshells, reveling in the fear of the impending breakup, wondering “is this the last time I’m going to see them?” I wrote this song while navigating those feelings, struggling to hold on to the belief that everything was going to be okay.

Trying To Believe

As a 27 year old who has already had 5 spinal surgeries and was recently diagnosed with epilepsy, I can’t escape the feeling that I’m growing up too quickly. I think about the bails, biffs, and slams that I endured as a kid, and my father’s words echo in my head: “You’re gonna feel that when you’re older son.” I didn’t believe him then, but dad, I fucking feel it now! But despite each day moving faster than the last, despite the aches and pains, I am committed to living each day to its fullest potential, and I will continue to do so until I no longer can. That is my legacy.
