These Three Words

**A Rhapsody for Jim Northrop... 7/31/2024**

Some years back, I visited Jim at the Woodside Circle house to check the piano as the house was being prepared for the annual Northrop Christmas party and caroling. Jim made coffee, and I asked him how his Thanksgiving was. He told me he spent it visiting his ex. He said, "She doesn't know who I am anymore, but no one should spend Thanksgiving alone." I was deeply moved by his kindness and forgiving spirit. I sat at the beautiful Steinway and improvised this melody. He asked me, "This is beautiful. What is it?" I was too shy or humble, I guess, to admit that it was my original music. He sat there and listened. I recorded the song on the Steinway, on my iPhone, so that I wouldn't forget it, and used that piano recording as a base for this composition. It is, therefore, the sound of his beloved Steinway and he was my only audience.

Today, I completed this composition, "A Rhapsody for a Good Man." I hope he can hear it one more time and that it brings him some peace, comfort, and maybe pride in his Greek friend Petros, whom he mentored, helped, advised, hosted, and employed.

My friend Jim, I am grateful for your love and grace. Thank you for sharing your light with us. Safe travels to that undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveler returns.

To love another person is to see the face of God. I know you have.

This piece is a montage of three previous pieces of mine which starts by depicting the  experience  of chaosand confusion of the fallen souls before transitioning into Spirit World where they are welcomed by Archangel Raphael the Healer!!!

This is track # 3 of my latest album " Homage 1989-2022"   which introduces what I have come to call TransNewAge Music because of its transcendent spiritual character .... Characteristic element of the piece is the suspensions of dissonances  in the melody that linger  for quite some time before they finally resolve!!!
