This song can be about whatever you want it to ......but the original intent was about chasing and capturing that ever illusive moment of artistic perfection. As art is created by humans, some would say it can never be completely perfect, as to make errors is in our nature. How many times have you been alone singing, rapping, dancing....and had a moment of brilliance? "Damn! I wish I'd recorded that!!" Then you go to recreate it in front of a lens or in a sound booth but you can't quite capture that original potency. Tom used to have that problem with freestyles, but realised that a moment of inspiration, belongs to that moment in time, and if it's a freestyle, then  surely it's intended to be free...........like a butterfly.

The title track of our E.P 'Everything ''n Nothing' (or 'owt 'n' nowt in Sheffield!) is about putting things into perspective. When we have a bad day, and think nothing is going our way, it's easy to forget that compared to a lot of people in the world, we've got everything.

James came up with the concept for this track. He knew a young man with learning difficulties who was always cheerful and a joy to be around. Unfortunately, he got bullied at his work place, 'people' locking him in cupboards, conning money out of him......scum.

This track is about the side of the cocaine trade that the western consumer, on the whole, doesn't see. The consequences of our nation's appetite for the coca leaf are immense, and the impact is felt from it's country and place of origin, to all the stops on it's journey, and not only by the people directly involved with it. We're not trying to play angels for a minute, but if people could see all the things that their 'Saturday night gram' has seen, and caused, maybe they'd look at it in a different way................

Supply N Demand - Everything 'n' Nothing E.P, 2011 (Track #3)

Originally written by Tom in 2002, and recorded with his previous band, Hip-hop act 'Constant Creation'. Tom and James revisited it in 2007, James came up with the haunting spoken word intro and the chorus melody. Tom kept the 3 verses from the original with a few slight tweaks. The song is a harrowing look at the lives of prostitutes in Sheffield. Constant Creation used to practice at Yellow Arch studios in Sheffield, situated in the Neepsend area of town, which, although a busy industrial area by day, transforms at dusk into the cities red light district. Other clients at Yellow Arch include: Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley and The Arctic Monkeys. It is about the very same area that Alex Turner wrote the now famous lyric "They say it changes when the sun go's down around here"....
One of Tom's best friend's older sisters was manipulated into entering this dark world and murdered in 1996, aged 16. Although not directly about her, this song is, was, and always will be 100% dedicated to her.  ~ R.I.P Fiona Ivison ~  




Sheffield Streetlights - Everything 'n' Nothing E.P, 2011 (Track #8) Dedicated to Fiona ~ R.I.P ~

Two stories about a couple of characters who are feeling the strain of life, told by James and Tom, that intertwine as the song progresses.
Look out for the comedic one liners at the end !

James came up with the idea of this track many moons ago, it was the first joint that him and Tom ever worked on. It's a heavy dose of irony and sarcasm from start to finish. Ridiculing image-based rappers who portray a life that they simply aren't living. Look out for the 'Eastenders' and 'Karate kid' references !

Tom Douglas - Lead vocals.
James McManus - Vocals/acoustic guitar.
Dave Murphy - Bass guitar/backing vocals.
Chris Basford - drums.

Formed in Sheffield in 2007 by Tom and James, the acoustic duo became a full band in 2012. 
Dave Murphy joined on Bass, with Chris Basford (Grand Ol' Ukes of Yorkshire/Cool Beans T.V show) joining on drums.
The result is a much fuller, richer sound, 
which is evident on their 2014 track; 'Radio 4'

The band have a conscious edge with a twist of comedy.
 They're regulars on the city's thriving live music circuit, having played countless gigs, with acts such as; Tom Hingley,The Violet May, 50 Sniffs, Smiling Ivy, Hey Sholay and Ed Tudor Pole. 
They've played annually for the last four years at the city's famous 'Tramlines' festival and also played Y-Not festival in 2013 and in 2014.
They host a monthly night 'Spit 'n' Strings and friends', showcasing Sheffield acts at 'The Redhouse' (voted Sheffield's best live music venue in exposed magazine)

Recording of the new tracks took place @2flystudios under the expert ear of Dave Sanderson. 

The first single was released in October 2014 and was called Radio Four. It is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Deezer. cdbaby.
