Boomers Got the Vax - SNL

Per Aspera Ad Astra was commissioned by the 2020-2021 Kamiakin High School Instrumental Musical program during the Covid-19 pandemic when all classes were virtual. The Italian translation of the title is, "through hardships to the stars". Students brainstormed ideas with me over zoom and the piece was composed so that it could be recorded and performed virtually. Fortunately, virtual learning came to an end and the piece was able to be performed live! 

The piece has a lot of cinematic influences and is orchestrated for flex band/orchestra meaning that it can work for a full orchestra or just a concert band. The piece also uses a backing track that can be played through any speaker system or programmed to a MainStage setup.
