Bendik - Slippe

A new single from the Danish band Thulebasen. We will release this single as a limited edition 12" featuring remixes by Eric Copeland, Gala Drop, Lamburg Tony, Hhappiness and Lucky Dragons (in co-operation with the great Danish label Tambourhinoceros) on March 26th, 2012.

The single was commissioned by the Statens Museum for Kunst, Denmark's National Art Museum, to create a song for one of the paintings from their collection of 19th-century Danish paintings. Independently of each other, the three members of the band became stuck on a Jørgen Sonne painting from 1847: ”Midsummer’s Eve". Sick People Asleep upon the Grave of St Helena at Tisvilde”. The painting depicts a group of visibly infirm people sitting, and waiting. A myth states that the Saint could heal them if they stayed on the grave overnight. With a strange luminosity that is both light and dark, this painting is famous for being the first to capture the unique light conditions of a summer night in Denmark. "Forever Grinning" is the song they wrote for this painting.

His Clancyness' debut LP was recorded by Chris Koltay in Detroit this autumn, it will be released in 2013.

"I first heard this song a lonely night in the summer of 2006. I was lost and did not want to explain things to anyone. I dreamt about covering this song for years until I started His Clancyness and have used it to open shows always ever since. It has some of the simplest lyrics I've ever heard, also some of the deepest. Four lines, that's all you need to explain."

Sangen er spilt inn av Marcus Forsgren og mikset av Bjarne Stensli. Co-produsert av Ådne Meisfjord (ex. 120 Days).
