Merlin Modulaw's latest project, ‚Lost & Found‘, is a EP that spans six carefully crafted tracks, pushing the boundaries of contemporary club music with a blend of genres and textures. The release highlights Modulaw’s unique production style, combining slower grooves, raw club sounds, and sharp, metallic textures to create a sound both gritty and immersive. Among the standout features of the EP are a powerful collaboration with Estoc and innovative remixes by genre-blending artists Manuka Honey and Xzavier Stone, each adding their distinct touch to the project.

DRUM NIGHTMARE w ESTOC

SOLTURA is the debut compilation album from xCakes, featuring releases from a diverse range of iconic artists across New York City’s musical spectrum, including both incarcerated and formerly incarcerated voices. Curated by xCakes, the tracks on this album speak to themes of freedom, release, and the abolition of the carceral system.

All proceeds from SOLTURA benefit the F2L Commissary Relief Fund, which provides monthly commissary support to incarcerated QTBIPOC individuals throughout New York, from Rikers Island to Bedford Correctional Facility and beyond. These funds enable incarcerated people to purchase necessities like hygiene products, phone calls, gender-affirming products, snacks, and more. 

Your support helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of incarcerated individuals and contributes to the larger movement for justice and liberation from New York to the world.

Shelter presents “Aveen” — the third installation in our genre-agnostic compilation series.

To follow up 2023’s “Feyrûse” and 2024’s “Mizgîn”, we have curated an emotionally charged collection of 17 tracks that press against the debilitating realities of life in the mid-2020s. The title stems from a Persian word meaning “pure” or “transparent” — signaling a search for unfiltered and sincere artistic expression in the midst of a social climate filled with smoke and mirrors.

“Aveen” features Shelter’s most international line-up to date, with music from 18 artists spread across 13 countries and 5 continents displaying their signature sounds shaped by their local scenes and cultures. 

Flowing through mutated shades of ambient, hypnagogic pop, trance, leftfield techno, neo-perreo, and GQOM — the compilation connects the myriad influences and mind-states of electronic musicians from nearly every corner of the world and tethers them together into a cathartic 17-track excursion.

For this week’s episode of CENTER BOOTH we’re delighted to share a start-to-finish thrill ride from one of the most exciting artists working today: estoc. The Philadelphia-based DJ and producer is well known for her dazzling, highly inventive sets, intricate, compelling releases spanning the gamut of genres, startling, often hilarious mash-ups and edits, and uncompromising politics that are the lifeblood of her art. 

Her visceral, take no prisoners approach to DJing has seen her summoned to play transgressive techno parties all over the US, Europe, the UK, Asia and Australia, while her latest LP, Are We Doomed To Bow Down To The Stupid And Cruel? is a growling, guttural response to fascism, colonization and other craven ideologies.

Her CENTER BOOTH set, which plays in a live and compositional fashion, comes from that same place of staunch resistance, both a source of release and fuel for the ongoing fight. It’s hypnotic not in its repetition but in its restlessness, a disorienting rollercoaster of cacophony, distortion and aggressive melodies.

The effect is something like strapping in for a full throttle VR experience, a quest soundtracked by creeping pads, all manner of belligerent percussion, itchy snares and the full kitchen sink of FX. Featured artists include DJ Plead, WTCHCRFT, Dave Quam, estoc herself on remix duties, and the Prodigy, overlaid with extra thundering drums. We’d call it a masterclass but estoc is an artist who simply can’t be imitated.

What started as a simple connection turned into a deep creative flow driven by shared passion, freedom, and dedication to music. Together, they've made a lot of music, and this release captures the essence of that journey. Blending elements of trance, ambient, and trap, the EP moves between emotional depth and raw energy, a reflection of two artists united by sound, not distance.
