Melbourne's Pugilist opens the gates with 'Flip Trix.' It's a dub-drenched, broken techno hybrid with earth-shattering low-end throughout. This lengthy 130bpm track, with foggy breaks and frosty pads, smartly concludes on a 4x4 beat to ensure a smooth exit. 'Flip Trix' is certainly a future percy for all.

Pépe - Frog Spirit

The third release on Dubrunner's Menace label finds the soundsystem stalwart continuing to refine his distinctively modern club twist on dub sensibilities. Drawing elements of techno, trance, amapiano and dubstep into his lean and mean digi-dub workouts, Blackheart arrives as a laser-focused selection pitched at forward-facing DJs working the dance at peak time.

For all the weight powering the likes of 'Protocol', Dubrunner's distinctive style is rooted in minimalism. The tangible breathing room in the mix leaves plenty of space for every subtle synth flourish and spring reverb splash to shine while maintaining a seductive tension throughout, all the better to hold the dancefloor energy on a tight leash.

There's an even stronger sense of pressure bubbling under the surface on 'Blackheart' thanks to the looming low-end which purrs away underneath the crooked-but-driving drums, leaving the lead lines to add an emotive flourish as a foil to the introspective dub chords which shimmer through the track's latter stages.

'Bad Mind' is a precision-sculpted throw down shaped out by delicate percussive intrigue and snaking groove, leaning further into a dub techno palette to set the mood and offset by flickers of auto tuned vocals that nod to amapiano.

To round the EP off without easing up on sheer soundsystem impact, 'Night Shift' carries some of Dubrunner's most assured production work to date. The ramp up for the drop is undeniable, letting the bass snarl and the drums roll without losing that sharply-rendered restraint we've come to expect from one of the most inventive producers in the broad expanse of contemporary bass music.

We met Leese at Listen Festival in Brussels. We were already playing her tunes on YUKU for some time, but it was her Live show that really throw us off our seats. We went to giver props after the show and our vibes just clicked. “—Hey, we saw your gig, and it was amazing! We danced our legs of!”, we said. “—Yeah! I saw you!”, she said with a smile. That’s all it takes.

Leese is a Brussels-based producer and DJ who’s been getting buzz for her sound - rooted in Bass Music and pulling percussive influences from breakbeat and tribal.

Founded in 2019 with a goal of challenging and broadening the ideas of club music existing in our local scene. Having the mission of spreading our fascination with broken beats, dub, techno, UK bass and anything in between at heart, we’ve already had the pleasure of hosting a number of renowned artists such as Objekt, Skee Mask, Batu, Zenker Brothers, Bruce, Rhyw, Appleblim, Low End Activist, Awkwardly Social, Forest Drive West or Mani Festo and trailblazed our own bass-path through the city soundscape, releasing local talents such as dadan karambolo, IWANN, Yes Stanley, 2Shy, Noodles142, Entire, Donija, Blu Terra; as well as two compilations: Crystalline VA and Seekers VA, both defining the contours of the label between local-gems discoveries as well as emblematic international producers in the bass field.

I have not been able to recover access to my other account [https://soundcloud.com/ha-kekong] for a couple of years.  I have tried a few times to get back into it but SoundCloud doesn't trust me.  Same phone number, same email addresses, and they still claim that they can't verify my identity.  I created that account about three years ago as a substitute to my regular account which SoundCloud temporarily closed.  They closed it as part of some upgrade procedure in their system, the result of a bug that affected many accounts, about two years ago.  Since SC did not inform its users I didn't know if that was permanent or not, so I created that other account which I can't access. No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ...
