Splash aims to celebrate dance music of all kinds, exploring the realms of house, techno, IDM and more. Inviting people of all demographics, ethnicities & genders to join us on a monthly podcast installment featuring local talent from around the country. We hope this will be a space to enjoy and support the artists you already love and to hopefully meet some new faces along the way. At the end of the day, it’s all about the music that makes us move… let’s not take ourselves too seriously :)

For episode 07 we are super pumped to welcome Novelty to Splash. In recent years the duo has become a big musical inspiration to us and has grown into an integral part of pushing the House & Techno scene in South Africa. After falling in love with their driving and groovy track selection, it only felt right to have them on!

“Craig Van Dijk & Daniel Singer formed Novelty in 2016 as a way to share their passion for distinctive and punchy sounds. Co-founding Xylem & BookClub have allowed them to grow and a duo and explore the sub-genres of house and techno, where they are constantly evolving their sound. With one part of the duo having a background in sound production, with the other having a careful ear - they have found balance in their process.”

Hay hay, Happy New Year all! We're back with Episode 17 💦

Hope everyone had a lovely festive season filled with good friends, good food, loving family and a drink or six. But now it’s time to jump back into some mixes - And we’re kicking things off with a belter! Non other than Cape Town regular Barista,  supplying us with a mix filled with neck breaking bounce from start to finish.

"Not confined to a particular genre, Barista's sets are rather constructed based on high energy and groove, featuring a dynamic blend of four-to-the-floor rhythms interwoven with broken beats. Within this framework, you'll hear selections characterized by driving basslines, intricate percussion, and carefully chosen vocals.

This time with Cape Town local, Bonaffi - A multifaceted selector and event organizer with a clear affinity for deep and melodic flavours. Providing us with a tight hour thirty of rolling deep house and dub.

He discovered his love for music back in 2015 when he and his best friend started a duo called Locked Illusions. With a bright personality and even brighter track selection, Miss P brings us with a smooth and seductive hour thirty filled with easy listening house, breaks, disco and reggae - the perfect weekend starter! Making regular appearances around the Cape for prestigious parties such as Mouth to Mouth, Movida, Xylem, Kunda Valley, One Park and more.

She describes her mix for Splash saying “this one is really just a compilation of tracks that bring me a lot of joy when I listen to them. This isn’t a usual dance floor kinda mix, but more of a soundscape for the neurological pathways i.e. easy listening. Aux cable, road trip vibes … definitely some groovers in there too haha”
