They ain’t villains. They’re blind. Trapped in a loop where comfort rewires the mind. Where success means “I must be right.” Where slipping down is the only fright.

It’s instinct. To rise. To hoard. To compare. To fear the fall more than the air.

They don’t feel the burn of the biosphere’s cry. They just see charts and the market high. Because instinct don’t care about oceans or trees. It cares about status and who it can please.

It’s the same code that built the tribe. That kept us alive when the wolves arrived. But now it’s scaled to a global bloom— a species choking in its own perfume.

Like algae fed on too much light, we grow and grow until there’s no night. Until the water dies. Until the sky breaks. Until the planet can’t take what it takes.

And still they smile. Still they climb. Still they call it “just the times.” But it’s instinct— not insight— that’s driving the wheel. And the smarter we get, the less we feel.
