From the cloud covered peak of the world’s highest mountain to the crowded streets of Kathmandu, more than 8,500 people have perished in what has become the deadliest disaster to ever strike the small but densely populated nation of Nepal. As the globe still reacts to the earthquakes that have left thousands buried beneath rock and rubble over a three week period of initial strikes and aftershocks, Be Green Records and Street Ritual have teamed up to bring you a benefit album aimed at the heart of Nepal’s stricken population. 

Featuring a lush mixture of deep bass rhythms, healing sonic textures and earth drawn sounds sown with modulated funk beats and classic instrumentation, the Nepalese Relief Benefit Compilation will directly support relief efforts in Nepal while illustrating sound and art’s power to heal in a physical realm as well as that of perception. 

Proceeds from the album will be directed to conscious relief organizations already on the ground, allowing the album and its contributors to make a greater impact on aid efforts with each purchase.

Amp Live lives up to his title as one of California’s most versatile and prolific producer-DJ double-threats with the release of his album, MZOZO, now available on Gravitas Recordings. The pieces symbolize Anthony’s embrace of the future, as his forward-thinking inclination to eliminate boxes and labels manifests within the eclectic tracks. Contrasting from previous dreamy lo-fi and experimental projects, MZOZO, titled after the Swahili word for ‘conflict,’ is a progression into heavier bass music and represents Anthony’s change in pace and exploration. This fresh direction affirms his status as an innovative multi-genre experimenter that does not focus on one singular sound. True to his notable technique of infusing hip hop and electronic music, the six euphonious tracks draw listeners on a voyage across multi-genre acoustic environments that include various sensational collaborations.

Featuring Zyme, “Riott” launches the album off high energy by blending hip hop alongside funky bass and a tasty sax riff. Amp Live and Monika Santucci continue the party in “You Know,” with claps to introduce the heavy bass and a fierce horn that constructs the pathway into an electronic wave. Extraterrestrial synth lines, acid inspired basslines and moody wobbly bass, SPOK takes you on an energetic journey through sound. Playing DnB, Trap, Hybrid trap, dubstep and experimental bass, SPOK smashes heavy basslines. S P O K draws inspiration most notably from rap and hip hop but also from reggae, jazz, gospel and more. 

S P O K has had the honour of opening for many notable performers including Slim Thug, Ganga White Night, Doctor P, Dirt Monkey, Sub Docta, Whipped Cream, Transforma, Perkulat0r, and more and has played at multiple festivals including Motion Notion, Electric Love, Impact Festival, Valhalla Fest, and more. 

Featured as a DrumNBass Girl of Canada, resident DJ for Any Given Sunday DnB night at the Astoria in Vancouver, and resident DJ for the infamous Vancouver Halloween Skytrain parties, SPOK is honoured to have been part of many BC and Alberta based events, festivals and shows, including at Bloom Nightclub in Nelson, Red Room for Subculture Saturdays in Vancouver, and more. 

SPOK has been featured on labels such as Shadowtrix, Mal Label, Keep Deep, and Really Good recordings. Spok’s song with GDubz “Infinite Light”, a Benga Flip, is mentioned in an EDM.com article as a notable entry on Conrank’s Fall 2018 Mix. 

SPOK continues her love of hardware synthesizers and is exploring new sounds and vibes while working on a new album.
