This is my thought about colors and numbers: what makes them so hard is learning them all at once. Unfortunately since I am studying Korean in school sometimes I have no choice but to memorize a ton of related words at once for a quiz, and get stuck on 일곱/아홉 for months; but I still haven't done much with (e.g.) pure Korean numbers over the age I'm likely to make friends, and I do colors one-by-one haphazardly when I come across them. (I would say I "only" learned Sino-Korean numbers up to the amount you need to talk about money but since I watch dramas that means all the way up to 1억 ㅜㅜ)
