SPOOKI SEASON 2022

I've spent a long time in the Bay Area now, and as a lover of Hyphy music (and all the great shit that came with that era) I wanted to take one of the classics and re-shape it into a house banger. The original Thizzle Dance is just one of those songs that everyone in the bay knows, and the melody is so instantly recognizable... THIZZ IS WHAT IT IS.

What's different about the edit?
Well... A lot. This is the one song in the pack that could pass as a proper remix. Very few elements remain from the original track besides the vocals and a couple of odd samples. Everything else was added in and built up around the vocals to turn it into something entirely new.
This has been one of my most requested edits/bootlegs/remixes of all time. I'm really glad to finally let it loose for people to check out. If you frequent House clubs around SF or Oakland, you'll definitely be hearing this one soon.

SPOOKI SEASON 2022

As soon as I saw the title and heard the lyrics of this track, I realized it was a no-brainer for me to add it to my sets. It just works too well ;)
Like I described for the 'Rhiannon' edit, i'm a huge fan of oldschool tunes that were rolling out of the 70's. I had heard the original by Dusty Springfield many times, but only recently discovered Quinten 909's remix and loved hearing it in the form of House. It's was a must-have for my "Spooki" collection.

What's different about the edit?
As with the other edits i put out this year, most of the changes are simply to get the song more "club friendly", especially in the percussion. While this gem was never meant to be a club-banger, I did think it could be a tiny bit more dancy, and so I started by quantizing all the kicks, and adding a few small percussion layers (like claps and hats) to make it a little more housy. 
I also wanted to make the composition of the track more 'DJ Friendly', as there were some sections that had extra 8 bars that didn't really fit with the flow of the track and the vocal sample used. I moved these sections around to give the track what I believe is a better flow. I also removed the repeating "vocal buildup" sections, as I thought they were kind of rough and abrupt for a smooth groovy song like this. Speaking of smooth groovyness, I added some additional horn samples, and recorded a few riffs on my keyboard just to add a little funk here and there.
